Would you still play a game if the main character was gay?

The only reason I wouldn't get a game like that was if it was a dating or sex simulator. I don't swing that way so I won't swing that way in a game

I wouldn't care, it's just stupid when they try to shoe horn in something like that. It's like when they add a black presenter on a show for the sake of political correctness.

I don't care about the sexual orientation of a character or their sex as a whole. As long as the main character is interesting, deep, and has sufficient growth throughout the game then any character is fine with me.

Not if he's a steroetypically offensive gay, one who prances around with a pink shirt
But otherwise yes.

Gay? Sure. Flaming? Not so much.
I stopped playing Enchanted Arms because one of the supporting cast was just a wee bit too flamboyant for me.

No, because I likely wouldn't be interested in it if that was its defining characteristic.

I would not care at all and it wouldn't change a damn thing. I wouldn't pick up a game I otherwise wouldn't, and I wouldn't not if I otherwise would. I don't think being gay makes a character repulsive, OR "more interesting" as some people act. They're just people, not monsters and not side shows.

Doesn't matter to me. As long as the character isn't a stereotypically flamboyant/butch (depending on the sex) character just beacuse they are gay then it's fine to do. The character (not the main one) from Persona 3, who's name I can't think of is a good example of how to make good homosexual characters in games imo.

I would still play a game, as long as struggling with sexuality isn't the main theme, I am so incredibly tired of that theme. (and probably since I've never had to deal with it myself)

Depends if it changes the feel of the story or not. Take Bulletstorm for example, granted it doesn't have the most in depth story ever, but if Grayson was flamboyantly homosexual it would have a completely different feel to it.

It has nothing to do with sexual preference to me, rather how that particular character fits within the game itself.

Yes, as long as it wasn't the one characteristic that defines him/her, they'd need a good background and personality (Which for the record with a requirement of mine for all characters gay/straight). For example if it's a hardbitten and cynical private eye in a noir science fiction future who investigates crimes in Old New York and lives his male life partner who is a bi-polar painter in a run-down loft, with a clunky robot butler. That game I'd play.
And it sounds FREAKING EPIC. ;;D It would be amazing.
OT: But yes; yes I would. Why wouldn't I?

On somewhat of a relavent note, how did it become the 'norm' stereotype that gay men aren't manly, and are instead effeminate? It doesn't make any sense....

"I'm so manly, when I want a deep committed relationship, I choose more men!!!!"

Really...

OT: Yes I'd still play, it doesn't matter in the slightest.

As long as it isnt the focal point of the character then I dont have a problem with it. but if its the only distinguishing characteristic thats displayed.
q.e.d.
"look look! hes gay" then yeah I have a problem with it. Someones preferences isnt the only trait or quality about them theres other things too!

Sure I'd play a game with a gay character. The person you play as doesn't have to be a carbon copy of your real self for a game to be enjoyable - if that was the case, I'd never get to play anything.

State the game, the character and a yes or no.
You want us to name an already existing game with a gay protagonist? Good luck with that.

Homosexuality isn't a deciding factor. It's like asking me if I'll play a game even if the protagonist's hair color is blonde.
