i give my self a good "probably" pyramid head would be my biggest threat, i've always had problems with guilt.
do you suffer from a great need to be punished? if not then there will not be a pyramid head in silent hill.

I´d survive easily. James had a HUGE skeleton in his closet. The town turned it against him.I live a pretty peaceful and uncomplicated life. I think there wouldn´t be any monsers in town if i went to Silent Hill...errr, hopefully.

Probably, just remember to turn off the radio and flashlight, and have a good old baseball bat on hand.

No, I'd be screwed. If I was stuck as James in Silent Hill 2 then Pyramid Head would make me his ***** 10 minutes in.
Just stuck in the town in general I'd probably stumble into the nightmare-world, get eaten by some screwed-up monstrosity and fall down a flight of stairs. Possibly in that order.

I would. My biggest fear is the dark, so a flashlight would ruin the town's demented attempts.
maybe the town wont spawn a flashlight?
I carry a flashlight whenever I travel for this exact situation.

Seeing as how I'm not a dumbass protagonist, but a smart, resourceful psycho, I'd survive in Silent Hill.
I'm pretty much used to being mindfucked (thanks to all of the people from school), so I'd be immune to the monsters that were created from my psyche.
Yeah, it'd pretty much be just like another day at school, right? :p

Considering that when I think of random stuff it practically shifts dimensions, no. I would probably end up stuck in limbo for eternity if I went there (and couldn't leave).

I would definitely get had. The place would conjure up visages of people I love, and put them in awful situations, and I would HAVE to rescue them, and I would go mad with the fear and die horribly. For sure.

But that's true off all the games to a point, isn't it? I think every one of the game protagonists is looking for someone who means something to them. Their daughter, their wife, their father, their brother... the place sucks them in with something or someone they cannot walk away from, that they can't leave, especially not there. So going home isn't an option.

But yeah, I'd get spewed on and die

I love these people who think they can leave. Once you pass that sign you're essentially in the "fog world" of "Nowhere". The roads will have caved into bottomless voids of nothingness and the entire town will become an island prison inhabited by the most twisted parts of your mind. The only way out is to confront your fear and survive it. There is no escape.

OT: As you can probably tell, I'm a fan of the series. I know how things work; you play the town's little mind-games and follow the rules and you will survive. If the town wanted you then it wouldn't try to kill you, it will hone whatever horrible skills, suffering or raw emotion you have in order to keep itself going. Just play by the rules and you'll be okay, but making sure you're got a decent weapon to hand and the skill to use it effectively wouldn't hurt.

It's more would you be able to run and hide well rather than survive. But no, I'd be too scared and confused to know what I was doing and would run right into a Pyramid Head or something like that.

since there is something in the town that the characters are searching for which keeps them in the town, I will count the same for me. I would probably live up to the very end, so I would know that my effort had gone to waste.

Silent Hill tries to torture you psychologically while it spawns living cluster$%^&s to really put you over its knee. Also, to make matters worse, it can even turn YOU into one of those living cluster$%^&s. If you're talking a set time limit, sure. It's possible. Not smart, but possible. But if you're talking indefinitely, then no.

Me? I probably wouldn't survive the first monster encounter.

The only difference would be that the monsters wouldn't look human. WHich is a step up.

No one has what it takes, except perhaps an unimaginative buffoon. This is assuming you are screwed up enough that the city comes calling for you.
Actually many people have what it takes to survive Silent Hill. 8+ games later and we have watched everyone from pregnant teenagers to disturbed schizophrenics make their way through the town relatively unscathed.
With each new game the ominous power of Silent Hill diminishes because with each new game more and more people overcome Silent Hill. Just like the Sephiroth vs. Kefka argument: Kefka has only died once and never resurrects, but Sephiroth, regardless of his power, cannot excuse the simple fact that for each time he came back he still has his arse kicked thoroughly each time.
Only because it's a video game. They'd all be dead if any of it were real.
