Would you throw yourself on a grenade?

I wouldn't be tempted to jump on the grenade, because with my luck I wouldn't die but spend the rest of my limbless life in perpetual agony, being wheeled around to middle schools and having some motivational speaker tell my story incorrectly while the kids are busy kicking me in the shins without the nurses noticing.

OK, but going back to the two options; I would get the f**k outta there. I wouldn't think long and hard about my decision, I'd see a grenade, see and window and jump! Even if it were possible to slow down time for all but my thoughts, giving me all the time in the world to decide and make my peace, I would turn, open the window and get the f**k out of there. A coward I'm not, but I still have a survival instinct and I know exactly what I'm worth and what my potential is. Why risk these 4 dorks doing nothing with their spared lives, when I can personally make sure at least one life is well-lived out of the 5 in the room? Besides, I'd be hailed as a quick-thinking, tragic survivor and they'd be remembered as meaty chunks. If I was going to sacrifice my life for others, it wouldn't be this situation.

Come to think of it, if there was a dog or cat in the room I'd probably sacrifice... I guess that shows the way my priorities are listed.

jump out the window because frankly i dont care about these people

and now that my safety is assured i yell back to lie down legs together feet towards the grenade (which is according some the best way to survive a grenade in close proximity) you may finish up horribly mutilated but at least you have a greater chance to survive right

if the buggers don't comply with my orders then they belong in the too stupid to live bucket

Depends. If the people are assholes then I wouldn't trow my life away for them. However if they were good people, I might consider it.

I'd dive out the window. Why? Because there's a better chance of more people living.

Assuming I'm the one near the window and I jump out, that means my jumping out supposedly guarantees that I live. (Assuming it isn't on the 15th floor) Then one of them could jump on the grenade (Why not? They die either way) and have a chance of saving the other two. That's one guaranteed to live, two with a chance of survival.

If I just jump on the grenade, then who knows if all three of them live? That's three with a chance of survival.

Jumping out the window is clearly the logical option. Besides, you may say you'd sacrifice yourself for 3 total strangers, but if you saw a grenade and a window you'd jump out of it and assume the others would follow.

It depends, if they were random people ive never met it would be different if they were my family. if they were related to me i would cover them from the grenade, i wouldnt jump on it

You probaly wouldn't save the four others in such a small room and if it did it would probably be a big enough room for all to survive with bad injuroes but still survive. Probably.

My slow reflexes, pathetic jumping skills, & lack of willingness to dive through glass prevent the window from being an option. I would KO the 4 strangers & pile 3 of them on top of the grenade to soften the explosion, & use the 3ed one as a shield against glass & flying body parts. If the police ask questions, I tell them that they were heroes who sacrificed themselves to save me. I would probably also keep a chunk of person to see what it tastes like.

It depends entirely on the other people. Are they worth saving? Am I in a room with my closest loved ones or with a bunch of lazy, biggoted hicks?

In the fight-or-flight response, I'm afraid the correct choice is not to 'fight' a grenade. My automatic response would be to leap out the window, shouting the eighth-loudest explicative in the world.

I don't care if it's four of my closest friends, I'm not goin' out like that. Let someone else be the gods-damned hero. I'm Chaotic Neutral by nature and jumping on a grenade's about as far out of character as it's possible for me to get.

Strangers, I'd jump out of the window, then return for survivors...

Friends/family, I'd jump right on top of that grenade...
