Part of me does not care because I have already decided not to buy Cata and to quit WoW for good in a month, but I will say that this does look "cool", I guess. Even so... I think that this is second-rate compared to the cinematic intro for Wrath.

The clip confused me it seemed like they were smelting shackles on to Deathwing but then it seemed like they were freeing him then that they were putting armor on him. Eh??

Not too fond on this video - doesn't show a lot of story or new features to the game (besides the world revamping)

Also where the hell IS he being kept that he can destroy barrens with his tail, but fly up from snowy mountains and burn alliance areas to shit?
This is the cinematic intro not the trailer. Also it shows all the story you need to know. Deathwing is free and is pissed.

Also his tail wasn't beating on the Barrens. He is just that powerful. ^^
True but the cinematic intros for the other expansions had a bit of story backdrop as well as showcasing the main boss' power a bit. Not just he's pissed rarrrr!

Heh can see what that boss fight will be like then "Stay away from the tail!!"

I don't play WoW so I'm not too sure, but isn't Deathwing a black dragon or something? Are those allowed to use fire?

What makes this a little anti-climactic for me is the knowledge that at some time, somewhere, Deathwing, black dragon aspect and destroyer of worlds, will be successfully tanked by a gnome.

I think it's meh. Deathing doesn't do a whole lot other than fly around all "HEY GUIZ LEWK AT MEH!"
Deathwing sounds like an attention whore now.
Yeah, allowing the whispers of the old gods to fuck with your mind is a bad idea folks because in some extreme cases it can lead to such heavy angst that even an emo would go "...fucking hell calm down"

we also have cooler trailers/intros
While we can argue over who has cooler trailers, I have to admit that CCP doesn't get enough credit for their trailers. Take this one as an example. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08hmqyejCYU]
What that trailer doesn't show is that the initial battle with the four pirates took about 20 minutes of you merely watching what was going on, another 10 minutes of dialogue, 20 minutes of travel time between systems, and who knows how many hours in between getting there and the bigger battle, which will consist of doing nothing but clicking once or twice every few minutes and watching your ship barely contribute.
At least, that's what I got from the trial.
Anyway, I'm going to go with the 'meh' opinion. It was...extremely underwhelming. Shouldn't they have done something more exciting in order to requisition more subscribers from the camp that's waiting for SWTOR?

gnomes haven't featured, because gnomes are ridiculous creatures that ruin tension.

This is such utter meh'ness... It's making me sad.

Cool eye candy though.
Whaaaaaaaaaat?

I mean, let's be honest here. We watch their videos for the eye candy (and the awesome cinematography, but that falls under "eye candy"), and this was awesome eye candy.

Much better than Classic/BC intros, IMO. Not sure if I like it as much as the WotLK one.
No, it's not I think better than the Wrath one, and you were spot on when you called Wrath's more subdued. And that's a good thing to be. Cata's is...well, aggressive, action-y and yes, pretty damn sweet looking, however, it doesn't hold that same gravitas. And it's mainly to do with the music, the Wrath backing music is mostly mournful choral with some amazing build up toward the end, in this one, it just beats you on the head with generic DUMPH DUMPH DUMPH RARRGH DRAGON! type music, not bad, just, not as epic as it could have been otherwise.

Visually, this is awesome. The audio, is always awesome.

I love Blizzard intros. Even though the WOTLK intro, takes the cake in my opinion.

Blizzard has fantastic intros, but there was something about this that wasn't as sweet for me (even though I still really freakin' enjoyed it). Most likely because I read their book about Deathwing's history. Also because this is Deathwing's 'reappearance' and he had already had the plates hammered onto his hide to keep him from bursting at the seams, before he vanished. I'm not sure if he had it done again, like it's a regular procedure (like getting your nails done) - but I'll have to see.

What really bums me out is, his body model in-game, is supposed to be no bigger then Sindragosa. That bums me out, because DeathWing is supposed to be ginormagatuan in comparison. He's supposed to be able to take on three Elder dragons at once; and he's only her size?

*raspberry*

If you think this, you are not prepared.

Considering the canon is entirely made by Deathwi-..ekhem, Metzen, yes and no. He can retcon anything anytime (look: Draenei), but i guess whatever is killed in WoW is dead in Warcraft's universe.

Yes, it's a shame that there's no "You are not prepared!" or "You... will be king" quote, which is why I'm tentatively slotting it below the WotLK cinematic. But visually, it's stunning imo.
I guess you could say that "All will burn underneath the shadow of my wings" is the borderline catchphrase line of this expansion.. but not nearly as iconic as the last two. Completely with you on placing it a notch under the WotLK cinematic.
