Though I love it, it doesn't have the same loregasm as WotLK. I played through the whole of Warcraft 3 and in my years before that had been playing Warcraft 2. Blizzard's always been ahead of their time in the CGI department and that's one of the things that's made their games so memorable. The chills went up my spine as King Terenas spoke of Arthas' great power and his future - the stark contrast between what he thought would occur and what had actually happened.
This cinematic hasn't had the same impact as that one and I'm tempted to say that it's a little below the BC cinematic, if only due to my knowledge of who Illidan was and his 'development.' I'd probably have been a bit more excited if I'd read the lore on Deathwing. Then again ... having played WoW for 2 years on and off, it did send chills up my spine just as it did before when I saw the places I'd gotten to know so well over the years changing dramatically under Deathwing's rage.

Why the hell cant they make their game more more difficult again... I mean the dungeon browser was a nice addition and stuff, but seriously, in a few days everything will be beaten again... Every damn noob is able to get the best gear with no really effort. I'd like to see separately gear you'll only get in raids. Like you can get all the kind-of nice stuff as usual, but if you want to get the ULTRA-L33T-GEAR you have to do a hella difficult raid that can't be finished within a few days...

sorry for my bad english btw
Thanks for discussing the cinematic man, really appreciate it.

Also, lol@ "hardcore GAEMZARS" raging about casual content.
Oh, well, sorry, forgot about that one in my rage^^.

In my eyes the cinematic is really nicely done, but it seems kind of... void. I mean don't get me wrong it looks great, but you don't really get a feeling of how the game is going to change and all that stuff. Also is there nothing about the story, maybe it's just supposed to be eye candy, but yeah.

I'm not kind of a hardcore gamer myself, I just don't like how ANYONE can get EVERYTHING without much effort. It kind of takes the motivation to play away...
I dunno, if you watch the Heroic dungeon and Raid boss videos on youtube by people like TotalHalibut and BlueXephos it looks like dungeon difficulty is being significantly ramped up. There's always the possibility of the dreaded nerf of course but so far I think Cataclysm is looking entirely reasonable.

When people say such things i'd really love to see their Armory page, especially their achievements. Did you finish all the encounters as heroic? No? Then don't complain. According to Guild rankings only 3.73% got the Glory of the Icecrown Raider achievement for 25 man Icecrown. Sure you can get the gear easily, but gear means crap if you can't use it properly. It's not vanilla WoW any more where gear was hard to come by, these day your progress is measured by what achievements you can get.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you about that, but it's all that shit with gearscore. All that people take care of is their gearscore (well not all, but definately the majority), and here we come to your point: Gear simply doesn't say shit if your skill is neat. But seriously, who asks about skill? It's all about gearscore nowadays.

And btw, I am sure I didn't do every raid and stuff, because I didn't play WoW that long.
As soon as I was T9 and kind of T10 equipped I quit. And it just doesn't last long to do that.
Friend of mine started playing like 8 or 9 months ago, now he's got 5 lvl 80 characters full T10 equipped and I can't really see whats the point in it.

My only disappointment so far is that Deathwing doesn't seem to have the depth and moral ambiguity that I felt Arthas brought to the table and that was highlighted extremely well throughout Wrath.

That said, he's a giant fiery dragon that destroys everything. Soooooo, can't complain there! Not even two months left...

And in this clip, Professor Deathwing instructs the Old Gods on how to properly destroy the world. None of this "lurk around corrupting lesser beings into destroying each other" business - nonsense! No, just fly into their cities and set them all on fire.

That's how it's done, people. Take notes.

Hmm, the sentence "You are NOT prepared" still gives me nostalgic shivers down my spine.

The visuals in this one are awesome, but I don't think it'll be as memorable as some of the others.

Wait, in the Novel Day of the Dragon, isn't the goblin that made Deathwing's armor? Those things doesn't look like goblin at 0:52.
Goblins practice slavery. And when working with large quantities of nearly molten adamantium and a crazy giant dragon who has absolutely 0 regard for the well being of his minions, it sure as hell won't be the chief engineer himself there.

Seriously though, Yogg-Saron was awesome, and a hell of a lot more interesting than just another dragonfight.

Edit: just realised I posted twice and didnt comment on the video once.

I rank the videos in the order they were released. The first one was the best, TBC second best, Wotlk I barely even liked and this one was...meh...

I would've thought the point of an intro movie was to try and motivate the player, make them feel more involved in what they're about to play or at least to introduce them more to the world they're entering.

But instead, self-absorbed npc villain who can apparently reshape the world accidentally, but will wind up being the weekly "to kill" creature of top tier play. 'Here's what happened, no your character never played any part in it.'

Also sad that the apparent focal-point of the game and any story is just the npcs that anyone can have a ride on as often as they like without affecting anything. I'm sure these massive combat scenes are hard work, but they ultimately accomplish nothing significant.

Were the cutscenes of the expansions at least to show how the actions of the players played a part in reshaping the world, it would be interesting. But they're not, there's some ultra-powerful npc using the world as its playground that no one can stop or even affect. Unstoppable force of nature is not an encouraging opposition, anything powerful enough to fight it would wreak just as much damage doing so.

At least it looked nice, probably worth the resources put towards it, if only standing on its own merit rather than being a part of a game.

Effective? Not so much.

How in the hell are people calling this trailer meh?
The entire world was just set on fire! Picture the look on the people of Stormwinds faces when they saw Deathwing on top of the watchtowers. That was awesome!

I prefered "all will burn beneath the shadow of my wings!"
That was pure fucking win!
