I thought with the impending release of its next expansion pack now is probably a good time to start a debate about wheter it is a good game or not. You can probably guess from the title of thios thread that i don't like it and why but i would quite like to hear other peoples opinions so....

I like WoW, but I don't consider myself a serious WoW gamer. I play for fun when I can, and don't allow myself to get sucked into that world. A friend of mine asked me when I was going to hit lvl 70 so we can go on raids and etc, I told him to talk to me in a year or so because I don't have the time or dedication to get there any quicker.

Mmmm... I somehow doubt this will end well. In fact, it'll be a miracle if we don't get locked.

Thoughts on WoW. It's easy and fun at first, until you see through the pretty pictures all the way to the core of what you're actually playing, and realize that it's basically the same three minigames over and over, with a tacked on chatroom populated by idiots.

So it's basically like any standard MMO.

Job-a post of employment; full-time or part-time position: She was seeking a job as an editor.

Game-an amusement or pastime: children's games.

These should not be meshed together into a game.

I'm not a big WoW player, my wife fills that role in our house, but it's undeniably a good MMO. I'm not going to roll out the trite '10 million people can't be wrong' comment, because 10 million people can be wrong as we all know, but the figures make a compelling case regarding its quality. What Blizzard have done with WoW, over other MMOs, is make a product that is very accessible and that will pretty much run on anything.

WoW, just like any MMO, is as good as the friends you play it with. Of course the community is going to have some idiots, every community has some idiots, ever this community has its fair share, but as long as you get a group that you like, you'll have a good time. If you play WoW, or any other game out of a sense of obligation, then it will feel like a chore, but as long as you are playing it with the right mindset, you'll have fun.

Im a long time lurker but i had to give some input on this subject. I played wow since beta up until last summer.. The whole time I played it religiously, I was 14-17 at the time school was a breeze and no need for a job. I grinded the hardest raids, pvped to gladiator, had the best gear, was an officer in an established raiding guild, a gm of one at one point. As far as ingame goes, I had alot of accomplishments. I sold my account for 900 bucks last year with 189days played across 2 characters plus some alts etc.

Unless your going to be crazy hardcore like that, to see the content theres really no point in playing. And even if you do/can play like this theres no point in playing either except maybe a collective 10 hours of learning new encounters over the course of some weeks. I learned from all that time I put in that your paying a company to waste time in a Teados manner....its not wow, wows really good its just the genre...its dumb is all

people use the "friends in game" card but overlook the fact that your subscription fee you dont pay would equal a ventrilo server for you and your friends, thats what i did =P .

I just play WoW whenever I am bored, I don't see how people can get addicted to it, I can't seem to play for more than an hour at most. I've been playing for almost 3 months and have only have a level 24 blood elf rogue. I found it to be the same as a lot of f2p mmos' i had played before, only it was a bit prettier with a bigger world. I started playing Rappelz today and I can see a huge resemblance.

Second job. I ended up taking a long vacation from WoW because my raiding schedule was so hectic. It got to the point where I dreaded each raid night, but had to get on anyway because I felt obligated to go.

So, yeah, if you want to participate in the high-tier raid content, WoW can quickly become a second job.

I don't make enough of a commitment to WoW to make it feel like a job. I play it when I feel I don't want to bother with the faster pace of the other games I play.

I honestly didn't think there would be this many people that didn't like WoW. I very surprised.

The WoW faithful are too busy playing to stop by and register their displeasure.

Wow really depends on how you play it. Some people can just log in every once in a while and have fun, others organize their life around it and do 100 man raids. Although it doesn't really seem to be a choice, you just either are one sort of person or the other.

Me, I'm the obsessive type, so when I quit I changed my password to gibberish and threw out the CDs. Worked well, now my friends don't have to call me to ask if I am still alive.

It's trendy to dislike WoW, but it's not really WoW that people are slating, it's the expenditure which goes into playing MMO's in general. It just happens that WoW is the most popular one. Essentially they're all a grind, and necessarily so, unfortunately.

I can agree with that, it all depends on what you want to do in it. Personally, I love RP, my guild, and all the...well a lo...-some- of the people on our realm, so that's why I play, you can do the other stuff too, but it's not essential to enjoying the game. I've never been to the real endgame stuff myself, Karazhan and Zul'Aman is the limit for me hehe, but, as it stands, when Wrath of the Lich King comes out, our guild will probably revisit that stuff when we're all 80. No rush really.

No, there are many people who do like WoW here. There is however a real vocal group of people here who seem to have problems with MMOs in general. Don't let that get to you though, everyone is pretty polite (most of the time).

If there is anything I don't like about WoW it's that it breeds a certain kind of communication that is highly annoying. It's sort of like some fraternity handshake that only avid WoW players know. People who don't get it are dismissed as "noobs." I rate WoW chat slightly better than Xbox live at 9pm CST on Friday. I am looking at you Midwest...
