Wow moments in gaming

Have there ever been a time whn you have been playing a game and just HAD to pause it and say "what"?

moments like this are rare within gaming. ill describe some such moments.

PORTAL: the very start of the game when the portal opens to allow you to leave the room. i was sitting there expecting the door to open when suddenly i saw myself in the next room running out. i just had to walk back into the room to do it again. paused. WOW

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45: now here was when i discovered an FPS at its finest. just the skills needed to play a game where one shot kills are nearly guarenteed. just the destruction that was caused by three people expertly operating a tank over an open map. noone could touch them but when i saw guys on my side (including me) attempt this we were crushed. sit back. WOW

No More Heroes... pretty much any of the bosses... i love that game

the visuals in odin sphere, the very texture and colors, just made me wow. The other was battlefield bad company when I used the little radio thing to bring down a russian mortar shelling, wow.

seeing cyrodiil for the first time in oblivion, and seeing your helicopter's shadow on a skyscraper in GTA IV. something really cool about that.

In God of War II: where you start walking on the giant chain to the giant horses and the camera moves so you see the scope of what's going on, also a little while later when the giant horses move the entire island.

Starting up Homeworld 2, having little idea what the new engine would look like...

"This is Fleet Command...."

Then they switch effortlessly to the new engine. That gave me shivers.

The first time I reached a major city in Assassin's Creed. And also that really, really high view point in Jerusalem. On the far wall that separates the city from the sea.

What do you mean you didn't see that coming? They showed it in the opening sequence when you start up the game.

In Crysis' multiplayer, seeing someone jump over a small fence. You're probably wondering how could that be a moment of "Wow!" but the animation just looked so good. Like, the player's leg actually stepped on the fence for a moment while jumping.

The first moment after starting up Shadow of the Colossus that I got to get a good look at the environment.

- the first time when you see that Super Pirates in Metroid Prime. The way they awake and punch themselves out of their statis chambers to attack you is made of awesome
- the complete "Elysia" world in Metroid Prime 3. I am a huge da Vinci fan and seeing a futuristic world build around his unique style just blew my mind.
- calling all four giants in Majoras Mask to "catch" the falling moon, followed by getting beamed into that disturbing happy tree world before the final battle begins
- the ending in Sonic Rush
- the dive into Rapture

At the end of Half-Life 2 Episode 2 when Eli Vance is killed. I didn't see it coming at all and I hate how it ended it there but now I'll have to buy the 3rd one.
