I'm glad there's no more of it, although i don't really like pokemon or digimon, digimon came second, which makes it less good considering almost every element of the two were the same

It finished. Epicly. Then got resurrected with some crappy new version a few years later.
Digimon was awesome.
I know. Digimon was epic. To this day I still prefer it to Pokémon. The movie was awesome too, in my opinion at least. Say, whatever happened at the end of the Digimon series?

It's not really a matter of which came first, but which one is still alive >.>...Personally, I can't WAIT for the Gold and Silver Remakes, myself!

Frankly, Dragonball Z was better...

I'm taking over this thread in the name of Dragonball Z fans.

But seriously, I think that ideas pool just ran dry.
That's funny, I just finished downloading the whole series, so my brother and I can watch it, for old times sake!

As for Digimon, I remember rewatching the whole first second and third seasons with my brother. Those were good times. I did enjoy how it was a more...darker...Pokemon, since I always grew up as a Pokemon girl! It had it's moments, but I agree, it couldn't keep up with, or stay alive, as Pokemon has, and still is. Sorry :p

Digimon went down-hill because of that retarded-ass third season, the one with the cards 'n crap, where all the old characters up and vanished, just like with Pokemon when it moved to the Hoenn region. I stopped watching after that, as I'm sure others did too.

But digimon isn't dead, yet. I think that new games for the Nintendo DS are still being made. But it'll never be the same...

I thought Pokémon aired in 1998, Digimon in 1999. o_O?
Mangas:

Poke'mon came in 1975 as manga but was unpopular

Digimon started in 1997...
Pokemon's that old? If I remember correctly, wasn't a talking Clefairy meant to be the mascot for the manga (and pokemon as a whole)? I'm glad it didn't.

I do not care for Clefairy. ¬_¬
The history of Pokémon spans nearly a decade from when work began officially on first game to now. It started simply enough as a hobby of Satoshi Tajiri, who as a child had a fondness for catching insects and tadpoles near his home in suburban Tokyo. Over time, Tajiri decided to put his idea of catching creatures into practice because it would give children the same thrill as he had.

With the help of Ken Sugimori and other friends, Tajiri formed Game Freak and much later the design studio known as Creatures. In 1975, the precursor to Pokémon was serialized in manga form as Capsule Monsters; however, the manga was unsuccessful and was discontinued. In 1991, Tajiri discovered the Game Boy and the Game Boy Link Cable gave him the image of insects traveling along the wire. After several failed attempts at pitching Capsule Monsters to Nintendo, Tajiri's new friend Shigeru Miyamoto pitched it to the company, and Nintendo began to fund the project, spending six years developing the games that would become a worldwide sensation. Before the first Pokémon games were released in Japan in 1996, sprites of Pikachu, Mew, Meowth, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle appeared in Game Freak's Game Boy Camera in 1995. Around this time, Nintendo decided to change the name "Capsule Monsters" to "Pocket Monsters."

Digimon-show got shot down and buried. Much fun and celebration were to be had as mankind had become a better place.

At least, that's what I think.

Well it did go on for several seasons which overall is not bad for a cartoon show. Things like Pokemon and Dragonball Z are bad examples to go by, heck it seems most Anime is lucky if it gets a second season, ditto for Western cartoons.

When i was younger I used tow atch Digimon every time it wa on TV, but now like most cool things its been lost in time and not very many people give a shit about it.
All the other kids grew up and started wanking to porn instead of Japanese monster cartoons.
Little too much of an image there.

On a side note, PLEASE don't tell me theres a rule 34 on Digimon. It was bad enough that I found Inspector Gadget porn yesterday. I mean, for god sake! STOP HURTING MAH CHILDHOOD.

I think the 3rd Generation of Pokémon was their flop. Things went a little uphill in 4th Gen! I mean, I even got back into watching the anime, but that may just be because I did enjoy the games...

Um, I believe if there is an anime of it, there is at LEAST 1 licenced Hentai about it. Then there's the THOUSANDS of "RULE 34 LAWL xD" BS that crawls around the internet >.>...

I remembered loving this show and putting up with some SERIOUS criticism from Pokemon wankers who said it was just another pokemon clone.

Fuck that noise. This show was NOTHING like Pokemon, its only similarity was that it had monsters owned by kids and the title ended with a Mon. It was a completely new series with this interesting idea of a world of cyberspace. It never got so ridiculously over-powered as Dragon Ball Z, had a host of interesting, fun, occasionally annoying but NEVER unlikeable characters, some appropriately awesome bad guys, good action, and the weirdest and most bizarrely beautiful backgrounds and images I've ever seen in a cartoon. Even when it got completely revamped and transformed in the third season and they ended up fighting a giant blob it was still well-drawn and well written enough to be awesome.

And then the fourth season showed up and it became Beast Wars...:p Never expected that to happen. What was even supposed to go on in the fourth season? Didn't they turn into digiomon or some stupidness? I've only seen about one episode myself.

That show was THE Shit. I'm just thinking about all the awesomeness that it was, now. Villains like Leomon and Devimon, and Miyotismon, and Puppetmon! All awesome! Characters with their own personalities like Izzy and Tai, and Matt, and TK, and Joe, and Mimi!! How many times have you seen someone named Mimi who has NOT been annoying? And even though the Digimon Mimi was...also annoying, she wasn't THAT annoying!

Hell, the only problem I have had with that show was Eddiemon or whatever the hell that monkey digimon that sounded like Elvis was. Best show ever. Even season 2 kicked ass. Hell, even season THREE was pretty cool.

And to all you douche bags who think Pokemon was better than this...You know that one episode where Pikachu evolved into a giant robotic dinosau-- OH WAIT YOU CAN'T BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENED!!!

I'd take Genai over Master Roshi or Professor Oak any day.

The ending, or at least the last few minutes of season 1 goes a little like this:

apocalymon destroys their crests so they cant digivolve but then they go all emo and realise that all they need is the love in their hearts or some shit and they all digivolve right up to their top forms at the time, i think a couple might go even further than ever before in the series. They proceed to kick the shit out of apocalymon who dies but releases his final attack - total annihilation - which would destroy both the real and digital worlds. The kids digivices suddenly go crazy and create some kind of containment cube that stops it - which is why there had to be 8 digidestined - 8 points to a cube. After all that nonsense is done with they realise they have to go back to the real world and never see their digital friends again. Until season two.

If that sounded a little facetious I just realised that this is the reason I struggle to converse with attractive women. They generally don't come in geek flavour.
