I got rid of cable many years ago, since it was just a waste of ~$300 a month just to sit around sifting through channels ...
But back when I was younger, I used to watch Tech TV, which then became G4 - TV for Gamers and then, G4, TV for guys? ... Bleugh. I don't know. But if you young'uns don't know about the G4 of old, then sit a spell and let me tell you ... BUT STAY OFF MAH LAWN, YOU KIDS!
I remember the REALLY old days a little bit. Not a lot, but I remember three programs on Tech TV: X-Play (when it was just Adam Sessler, before Morgan Webb came along), some show about little robots people would build that would battle each other in arenas and a show about short, independent animations from various people. I can remember a few of those ...
Then it became G4, TV for gamers. It was pretty cool. I actually remember that better than Tech TV. You had a show about teams of gamers who would fight each other in different multiplayer games like Mechwarrior and Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (I still have that game!

).
Then there was the original Portal, years before VALVe made a game of the same name, that featured a guy named Dave, a talking computer voice and was about the lives of characters in different MMOs like The Drifter, Groover and some badger thing.
There was also a show called Judgment Day (I had to look it up, damn it's been a long time), but it had Tommy Tallarico and Victor Lucas (I had to look up his last name). And they would both review games and Tommy was the guy who was harsh on games. That's what I remember.
Then there was, Cheats, or something like that. It was still on a few years ago, but it was hosted by some nerdy guy instead of a woman. Also on was Cinematech, which would show different cinematics for games. Back in the day, it was for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. XD
Let's see, what else ... Well, X-Play became a part of the G4 network, as we all know. They also used to show, during commercial breaks, little snippits of gameplay from various games, like the original Burnout, which was actually a standard racing game. (If you're used to the newer burnout games, even Burnout 3 on forward, and you played Burnout 1 without knowing what it was, you would never know it was a Burnout game. Seriously!) Oh, and they had a show called "Icons", which would talk about different game devs or companies.
That's all I can remember. God, it's been so long. Then, slowly but surely, other shows came it, and it became less about videogames and more like Spike TV. Oh wow, I hadn't thought about Spike TV in ages ... or Most Extreme Elimination Challenge! XD I've got to YouTube that show ...
And that's what the old G4 was like. It was about games for gamers. Not anymore ... <:-(
