The world has always been messed up. Have you been living under a rock?
I would like to propose that it isn't the world that is fucked up, but that our idea of a perfect world is retarded (meaning that our perception is wrong, not the events themselves).

OT: I like the world the way it is, after all, if we didn't have people like FrumpyMom and Obama-idolising-brainless-slobs then all the good things in life would actually be the bad things, and we all know that no-one wants the good things to go down the poope.

ok so yeah something im noticing that there are alot of messed up things happening over the last few months, women stabbing sons who wont get off xbox's, criminals being caught because of stopping to play a DS instead of fleeing the crime scene, men stabbing kids to death because of tony hawk. does this sort of thing tend to happen regularily and its just because ive only just started REALLY using the forums, or is this truly as messed up as im thinking it is.
Media tends to focus on the exception rather than the rule. Why? Because it's the eceptional and unusual which is interesting. If you picked up the paper, watched TV or read an online magazine that said "today, over 99.9% of the population got along quite well, and large regions of the country were embroiled in non-violent situations", that wouldn't be very interesting....

There are a lot of worse things happening, though those are still questable too.
I will note, the so called "stabbing over Tony Hawk" wasn't really over it, or at least by the details given, it seemed the kid just happened to be playing Tony Hawk when he got stabbed. It never said the murderer did nything with the game, or even touched it.

Back to the topic though, I don't think we will ever be able to find what is wrong with certain peope. People just happen to do weird things.

I know the world is a screwed up place but I think it's gotten worse recently. The world didn't use to be this messed up and not all of it is (I have family in the mental health profession, I know). There has been a spike in crazy recently and the gamer world is seeing its end of it. Also because I cannot resist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4

Yes, this happens all the time. People do horrible things to each other for stupid reasons and always have. You're just noticing it more now. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD! IT'S A HELL OF A PLACE!

The world is not messed up. Human societies are. And the worst thing is, people are too scared to change things. They believe that a "savior" of some sort will come, snap his fingers and just magically fix the world, forever. Here's a BIG cup of reality.

Internets. Enjoy them while you can. Obama passed a legislation, that gives him the power to "turn off" the internet in America, indefinitely. For regular citizens at least. And that's not the only "bad" one. If you live there, start reading, cause at some point, armed men might just march in your house, arrest you/family members and.... well read about the patriot act. The country seems to move towards a military dictatorship.
Say hello to Obama's nazi-style, brainwashed youth.

Wake up, not only yourself, but everyone else you could. While you still can.

It's all because of right-wing conservatives. They are responsible for all the world's problems.

To any conservatives who take offence, look at what I'm doing: making mass generalisations. Sound familiar?

All political parties are owned by the same sets of corporations/banks, so it doesn't matter what there called. But they are successful in splitting up the people, by making them hate each other.

Well yeah, the world is a really screwed up place, but only the second thing you mentioned was actually because of video games. And it's because the guy was stupid, not because of the DS itself.

As for the other two, the stabbing that happened in the first one was the guardian stabbing her kid, not vice versa. It was someone losing control because someone else was playing video games. Quite the opposite of what many people claim should be the case.

The third scenario just... happened. There is no telling whether it was over the game or not, we only know that at one point they were playing the game, and at another someone was stabbed. That's hardly enough evidence to prove anything.

Anyway, I doubt you were trying to blame video games, but I had to point that out.

There are idiots and assholes in the world. When you discover the internet, as I did two years ago, they suddenly become more plentiful and loud.

Why do they appear in the news? So we can point and laugh at them of course.

Ill admit, there is a lot of messed up things in the world, but we have to be above it and not fall into that hole.
