WTF moments in gaming

There's a bit in Far Cry 2 where a guy is actually INSIDE a rock, with his limbs poking out. He can shoot at you still, but you cant always hit him, what with him being 'one' with an unshootable thing.

I also find it funny when the AI gets stuck in a corner and just faces a wall for a bit. You are wandering around, making loads of noise because you think everyone is dead, and you suddenly go "whoa! where did you come from?" as he continues to face the wall. Then you shoot him and laugh. Maniacally.

The most recent moment for me was yesterday. I was replaying Grand theft Auto IV, went out on my firs date with Kiki. I had not dated her in my original play through. As I got out of the taxi I had taken to drop her home, a bloody limo comes along from nowhere, squashes Niko against the side of the taxi and sends him careening to the ground with a smear of blood. I seriously said WTF.

That's why you dont use silencers on sniper rifles.

Silencers in games usually makes me say WTF. Because the guns are actually silent with the silencer, which makes no sense. Just because there's a silencer attached to the end of a barrel doesn't mean that the gun is somehow 100% efficient at converting potential to kinetic energy for the bullet.

Yeah, especially with a weapon that fires supersonic rounds. Both films and games have spread this idea that silencers will magically make a weapon silent, which is a little far from the truth.

So today I was replaying Borderlands after letting it sit for a few months and noticed something pretty ridiculous. When you kill any enemy they tend to groan as they fall to the ground. Totally legit. However, if you headshot them and their head explodes they still tend to groan. How the hell does something without a head groan?

Try this: moan like you are dying for 10 seconds. OK? Now put your hand on your throat and do it again. Feel that? Those are your vocal cords. Air passing over them makes sound. Your mouth shapes that sound into words. Without a mouth, all you can do is: moan! If you shoot off someone's head, and their body has an involuntary response of convulsing the muscles which control the lungs and tightens the vocal cords, then boom: headless moaning.

Since I just bought Star Wars The Force Unleashed, I have a great WTF moment; those damn missle turrets and the Purge Troopers missle launcher are almost impossible to dodge and if you're out in the open when one hits you, you're pretty much target practice as it is very hard to get back up in time to get away.

Mass Effect - whilst battling the Matriarch, Shepard decides to become Mr. fantastic and start stretching out of shape and then freezes and becomes nigh invicible. It also turns out you can't move and that the Matriarch and her commandos have shit accuracy. It was a serious WTF moment for me as I thought I would have to reset my xbox 360 and I had forgotten when I had last saved.

Also in Fallout 3 I met a guy I personally call Mr. flying-brain-with-eyes-and-bright-white-teeth-who-is-lootable-but-has-no-loot.

Oh and a terminator from terminator salvation having the ability to punch kill me from 300 ft away.

And how there is no stealth gameplay in farcry 2 .

Edit: I just saw someone mention SW:TFU and I had to say another WTF moment was when the game failed on me and decided to stop tracking force points.

I also think that she may have had something to do with turning Frank Jaeger into the cyborg ninja, although I could be wrong. It's been a couple of years since I played it
