There will always be WWII games, there are no other wars where there are black and white, good and evil sides. And without clearly established bad guys and good guys, us, the general populace wil not get it.
Then why no Korean War games? The US was fighting North Korea AND China, both considered to be worse than the US, and created a thriving state in South Korea. Plus the battle of Chosin river valley would make an astounding final level. One division of marines against almost a million Chinese infantry, in artic conditions. I realize alot of Americans are giving you shit for your statement, but it does hold true for Vietnam. Its why the US doesn't have a draft anymore- conscripts would rather commit a war crime and go to jail than bleed out in a jungle somewhere.Silva said:People will probably keep developing games based on WWII until it stops being the only war the Americans were unquestionably and popularly considered to be on the "good" side (and when sides were even recognisable, and there was a clear, uniform-defined line between civilians and the enemy). Which will probably be a long while.
No, it's the only modern war that had a real evil enemy..Silva said:People will probably keep developing games based on WWII until it stops being the only war the Americans were unquestionably and popularly considered to be on the "good" side (and when sides were even recognisable, and there was a clear, uniform-defined line between civilians and the enemy). Yet Inglorious Bastards was fake....maybe its just me but I hate it when people twist history like that (I really loved the movie though). There are so many things left out of a WW2 game that there could be. Like Easy company campaign would be nice really.Tdc2182 said:Hate to say it, But the world war 2 genre needs to start heading down the Saboteur direction. The game had promise. Or better yet, the inglorious bastard direction. Stop forcusing on the battles and go more into the sideline stuff.
Don't forget Holland and Italy. CoD3's Canadian campaign was a joke.Pyromaniac1337 said:WHERE IS MY CANADIAN WORLD WAR II GAME WHERE I BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF JERRY'S IN DENMARK!?
TERRORIST! You sir, do not love America.Pyromaniac1337 said:Yes.
Because Americans refuse to make games that focus on something other than Americans, Russians, and shit like the Pacific, Stalingrad, Berlin, Omaha Beach (AKA: The Second Reason America Almost Fucked Over Operation Overlord), and the Rhine Crossings, and Americans are starting to tire of the same shit all the time.
Oh, wait, no. Americans never get tired of making their warcocks feel bigger. So no, American developers will make more and more World War II games focusing on the same shit, or on generic fake shit.
WHERE IS MY CANADIAN WORLD WAR II GAME WHERE I BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF JERRY'S IN DENMARK!?
Yes indeed, rumors abound that Konami is stepping in to fill the void left by cod with their highly anticipated Dance Dance Genocide. Not to be outdone, Harmonix is allegedly producing Rock Band: Blitzkrieg, where you promote the master race through a combination of rattling away at the strings of a guitar and rattling the trigger of a machine gun in the worlds first rhythm 'em up.HardRockSamurai said:No. As a matter of fact, game developers of all genres are still developing WWII games to this very day.soapyshooter said:Do you think games based on WWII will no longer be released?
