Yeah, mine went after about 18 months. Didn't cost too much to get it fixed (about 45 euros I think) but it's a pain in the arse boxing it up and posting it

my ps1 still works, i got one of the first gen ones, my gc works fine. i had an intellivision work for well over 10 years

i got a ps3 and it's not had any issues. 3 years is pretty bad for consoles most last for a lot longer than that

I've had my SNES since three days after it launched.

I swear they make today's consoles out of cardboard and duct tape.

My first one lasted about seven months before getting the E73 or whatever error message. Basicly it is a less common RRoD. My second went six months and the disc tray would not open. Now im on my third which I have had since last summer. But it overheats easily, the noises are insanly loud, and it takes forever to read discs. Sometimes it wront read the disc or it thinks its a DVD. Basicly its a crippled old man who has to be taken cared off very carefully. It has lasted nearly a year though. I called Support about two months ago and they said my warrenty was only reset for one month after my second one died. So basicly Microsoft sent me a defective Xbox for my defective Xbox. I have to think of a way to force an RRoD so the three year warranty works. Good old Microshit.

My launch console sometimes makes weird noises. Other than that I had to replace the cables that came with it. No idea what happened there.

The old ***** is still chuggin along though. She's pasty white, shaped like a refrigerator, and she makes me do the dishes, but she puts out.

And she hasn't died yet.

My Xbox 360 just died on me after 3 years of good service. I was wondering what was the average age for a console and whether 3 years was good service after all.
Mine had an original run of 3 years, but for the last year or so its been cracked open and running as a FrankenX360. We'll see how long that works out.

My NES is still alive and working... So... 3 years is bad comparativly.
However, the more advanced something is, the less likly it is to be durable. My 360 lasted 2 and a half years before it asked me to marry it... I was flattered, of course, but I was already engaged to my computer. That and the fact that once it handed me the red ring (Which was broken already! How cheap), it refused to work anymore. Well, I'm not marrying something that would not work once married, who am I, my father(ZING!)? Nah, I sent it packing, and had a new one inside a week(Ok, two weeks). If you don't mind voiding a warrenty (If you are just under the 3 year warrenty), then you can actually fix the issue yourself, though I shall not link, since Google is more helpful anyways. Plus, some of those sites proliferate illegal activities(NOTE: Link does not endores those things, you dirty, dirty sea lover, you!).

And in response to the Get a PS3 comment... Really? How is a system with games released later, which costs more, with technically less backwards compatability and less quality games per capita more fun? Sure, she's a powerful beast, and maybe she'll make a man happy one day, but how does that help a 360 gamer who has the game saves, and games for another system? How about something more on topic, and less fanboy flaming?
