With the upcoming release of games and software focused on the new peripherals being released by Microsoft and Sony to bring gaming to a whole new level, it leaves me wondering: Which would ultimately be the better buy in the end?

Being a hardcore shooter as myself, as well as an overall fondness for adventure games. I've decided to do some exploring and researching to find out my own answer to this. Ultimately, without the sheer threat of price, I find the PlayStation Move a better buy for shooters and adventures. Whereas Kinect would be for more relaxed gaming. However that is only by the currently released, or available information on planned to be released, games that are available.

Now I ask you, what do you believe to be the better buy? Xbox 360 Kinect or the PlayStation Move.

Unbiased opinions preferred, no console wars, and keep conversations within the rules of the forum. Looking to hear what people think. And if you have reason to correct me on my stature then please let me know.

Apparently Kinect is getting a lot of wii clone games, Move is going for a little of both sides since Killzon 3 will be move compatible.

I'd personally wait and see how things pan out in the long run, maybe hold off on buying either until a AAA title is released that uses Kinect or Move.
But as of right now, the Move looks most attractive (although the cost in the long run isn't that far from that of the Kinect). There's may be some support for it in already released games (from what I've heard), so that's always a plus.

I suppose I'm somewhat biased for the Move due to the fact that it's already supporting Heavy Rain. The one thing that irritates me though is needing to buy another Move controller for full support. But I'm glad to see people's opinions.

In my opinion, NEITHER, but in a realistic perspective, i'd probably go with the Kinect, it's a 'new' version of the EyeToy but it's better than a black wii-mote with a shiny blue b***-e**.

No, gaming should be fun, w/e way you find that to be. and sometimes flailing around is more fun then just sitting on a char with a controller esp when you have friends that can sit back laughing about it which is one of the reasons a game like DDR is so fun to play with ppl. Ya know you look like a retard bouncing around on the pad but ya don't care.

Aheam, the move isn't a clone of the Wii. It has similar motions but it's more than a direct rip off. I integrated it with Resident Evil 5 the other day and found it to be just as good as the dualshock for controls, accuracy and ergonomics regarding button placement.

There was no flailing whatsoever and it only took less than a couple of to accustom myself to the use of each button within the game. The only downer was the trigger on the Move wasn't the "gun trigger" but I can live with that. I still got my SS ranks in so it's more than competent

It's accurate, doesn't do what motion controls have done before and either become too twichy or unresponsive (worst of both worlds) so for now it's showing a lot of promise integrating itself as something more than a "mini game wand"

I've not tried the Kinect and not really in a rush to do so, so I can't comment on that. One of my ethics is NEVER slag off something unless you've had the balls to try it out for yourself ^_-

Whether you have a 360 or a PS3 shouldn't matter, it should be more focused on what you have tried and enjoy. For example, you can go to Gamestop and play the PS3 for demos to try it out if you don't have one at home.

But props to those who will wait to give a comment about it since they're just recently coming out.

Honestly, if Kinect worked like it was supposed to, it would be phenomenal. However, it probably won't. And I'm not interested in Move at all, as it just seems like an upgraded Wii. Plus, I have no PS3, so I don't care super-hard.

Move, simply because you don't have to embarrass yourself quite so much whilst playing it.

I just imagine playing kinect and having my dad walk in, seeing me dance around the room and talk to my xbox, then he just looks at the ground shaking his head whilst slowly walking away. I'd sooner die then put my dad through that.

At this point I'd say Move. It seems at the moment like they're really trying to gear Kinect towards the Wii's audience, because about 90% (I think? that was a rough guess, from the 19 games they announced the other week) of the games they announced are dance/sport/pet/party games. I don't know all the games for Move but it seems they have quite a good amount of 'hardcore' stuff.

ATM, if you're into hardcore games go for move, with support for Heavy Rain and Resi 5 along with Killzone 3 and LBP2 announced as well as a huge amount of hardcore games coming out it's obvious.

If you like fun, playful games with lots of movement and no control, get Kinect...though Steel Battalion could be good, I've no idea how it plays and the rest of the 'hardcore' Kinect games are all just on rails.

Just look at the technology and you'll see the Move is better for games IMO. Kinect might be nice for some really really minor games or if its for your kid (who is just being introduced to gaming or else it'll interest him for about an hour for novelty). That's if they make it work (apperantly not such a success so far).

I'm amazed, I honestly thought I would see a bunch of Kinect fans. (Nothing against those who do like it.) But it's also enjoyable to see that people are understanding the difference in the gaming and have a logical point of view for it.

Well to me the Move is a Wii. I'm open minded so please convince me otherwise.
Can't say until I've actually tried it though.
