From my understanding when I bought the game Notch told me I will be getting all future updates and versions of the game for free. The 360 version is being developed by a different studio and yeah they'll pretty much be losing all of their sales if it was but a promise is a promise right? If it isn't free I'm pretty sure some gamer out there will dispute this and I think court might favor the gamers side if it comes to that. Thoughts?

Are you for real? Of course it isn't going to be free.

Even if you're an Alpha buyer, I can't see how you could justify a 360 version of the game as an 'update'.

I can't imagine another game that tries to be Minecraft would outdo Minecraft, when they have an official game coming out on the 360. All in all, I can't see this happening, but I guess it doesn't hurt to hope... Unless it doesn't happen or gets crushed by the actual game.

no you won't, because it is on a different format, and a different company. and no court would favour the gamer, because there was no contract.

You, and everyone who bought Minecraft so far, have paid for the PC version and it's updates.

This is the 360 version, it is not an update, it's a port.

Saying you "deserve" the 360 version just makes you look like an entitled prick.

It said all future updates and versions were to be free.

I would assume what the OP is implying is that the Xbox version would be free for people who already bought it, not just "free" period.

Either way I don't think that's what Notch meant.

Then Notch is an idiot, as well as anybody who feels that they deserve this for free based on such a comment.

I agree, I bought Alpha MC and never expected the 360 ver. to be free nor do I really think it should be.

I think it will probably be the same price as any arcade game on XBLA. So it won't be that expensive, but if you are already a fan of Minecraft and have it on your PC do you really need the Xbox 360 version?

It's not really an update, or a new version. A console port is practically an entirely new game. Some devs could argue that porting is actually harder than making it from scratch. The dev is already taking a big gamble with taking on a project like this, and they're going to want to see it turn over. This sort of thing reminds me that, although I often fight for integrity and support for the gaming industry when people say nasty things about the gaming community, anyone taking this to court will be the sort of self entitled trash that people keep talking about.

Did someone say Minecraft on xbox?

Nah, just kidding. but in all seriousness I don't think people who've bought the game get it for free on xbox, I've heard that they're doing sometthing different to just "Minecraft on a console" with it anyway so maybe we should just let time tell.

Where can I see the original T&C before Notch changed it? I don't think we alpha buyers deserve the port but, depending on the wording, we may be legally entitled to it.

To take an example, you couldn't expect "Minecraft 2" to be free just because you invested in the alpha. It's possible they intend MineBox to go in a very different direction, especially considering they're working with very different hardware and controls.

Versions meaning beta, and then the full version. And all updates that go along with them.
