In a shocking move (if it turns out to be true) after nearly a decade and a half of competition and each generation having the two become progressively more similar (with this current generation having literally only the exclusive games both have and the originally mandatory eye toy One had) it seems that the Xbox One and PS4 are braking down the wall between players and will be allowing for cross platform gaming between players using the same game on different consoles.
This is both brilliant and stupid at the same time. On the one hand this increases the playerbase for games that are on both consoles (and lord knows Evolve needs that), but on the other hand this means there's even less reason to specifically get one of the two consoles then there was before (though I've long been of the opinion the WiiU is the only current gen console worth owning if you have a functional computer).
This, if it's true, would start with Rocket League, which already has PS4/PC cross platforming, but it that does happen and succeeds it spreading to other games is inevitable.
