holy balls dude, you take games way too seriously (never mind, after reading Ed LeCore's post, the op doesn't look nearly as intense). we're talking about a console here, not a dictator. really, none of the policies of the xbox one bother me. i already avoid used games and never cared that much about drm. im mainly a pc gamers so it doesnt matter either way, but i dont have an issue with the xbox one. seriously, imagine what a better place this would be if people cared half as much about real world problems, as they do about video games
Consumer rights are real world problems, as I addressed at the beginning of my post, its not just about consoles. As to dictators, one of the problems with giving corporations too much power and control is that they have as much money, and in some cases actual political power as actual countries, but without the democratic restrictions. Some with too much faith in the market think that that's ok and it will sort itself out, but not if the consumer fails to recognize a threat to their purchasing power. If your're going to reference my post at least acknowledge the points I made. I am a PC gamer too, and neither console effects me directly, however we are all effected by changes in corporate culture. Big picture people.
i didnt quote you because i didnt really feel like getting in to a big thing with you because ive had debates with people on this site about subjects like this before. it never goes anywhere is is just two people butting heads until one of them gets bored and stops responding. however, you're right. if i wasnt going to directly address your point, i shouldnt have mentioned it at all. i apologize for that

You don't need a pact; just a brain to see the folly of such anti-consumer practices and a spine to reject them consistently.

All other Xbone shortcomings are but annoyances except one: you no longer own the games you buy. You "license" them. Which means when the expiration date is up - you no longer own shit. Keep that in mind when buying your Xbone. I feel that this abominable practice must be abolished as soon as possible.
I believe that's legally been the case for quite a long time. In the case of Steam, it certainly is.

Do we have to? Upholding a pact to an illogical degree seems to be what caused all this nonsense to happen. How about instead, we buy it as it suits our interests? If you really want to pay 500 to watch Netflix, some sports channels, and maybe occasionally play a game, then do so. If you want to play games without needing a tiny electronic Judas spying on you and checking in with your disapproving corporate mother who doesn't like you associating with that Gamestop Kid, then get a PS4, or play on a computer. We have options.

I'm in . But it has to be a blood pact . With sacrifices and everything .

So what we need is . A knife , a virgin , a lunar eclipse , some black hoods , some candles , and a bag of oreos . Because everything is better with oreos.
ooh ooh ooh, don't forget the obsidian knife which was sanctified on a Wednesday morning.
Or else we'll just look silly.

And we wouldn't want that when we're singing a pact over the internet.

Here and now, we must make a pact. A promise to be remembered in the days to come. And that promise is, no matter what happens down the road, we will never forget the injustices the Xbox One has committed. Mandatory online connection, locking games into the system, the blocking of used games - all of this could fade from our minds if we let it. But now, we make a pact to remember all the evil that has transpired, to never let ourselves forget what Microsoft has done against games. Because if we don't - well, they'll just do it again.
We made the same pact when Windows Vista requred draconian online verification. We forgot that pact when Windows 7 came out, and now, Windows 8 monitors your activity like a Kinect camera and reports home to Big MS. They haven't learned yet.

Here in the US we were really sore over the hostility between Christian denominations in England (mostly between the Anglicans and the Catholics)Most of us were fringe groups that also escaping persecution for believing differently. When we got here, and some of that bullshit was manifesting again (colonies had defined their own settlement religions) we nipped that shit in the bud with the First Amendment. That was our pact.

And today we have Senators saying the the First Amendment is freedom of religion, not freedom from religion which is total bullshit (freedom from religious persecution was the primary intent of the separation clause.) Today we have lobbyists from churches and media heads adamantly defending Christian privilege in US statutes, and making manifest slanders of non-Christians. If they ever did wipe out the nons and others, they'd turn on each other again.

So even when it comes to very serious pacts, we tend to forget them with time.

I can't believe people are giving in so easily. The XBone is the worst piece of crap I have ever seen. When they stop supporting the system a few years down the road all the xbox users are going to lose all their games too. Also the constant comparisons to Steam don't even make sense since Steam is a free service and the XBone is a expensive product. If the XBone was free and had no gold charges and was a online only store than maybe we might have a decent comparison but it isn't it is a console.

If people let this slide they not only screw themselves but they screw everybody else as well in a not only self destructive act but a act that hurts everyone as a whole dragging down the entire industry. I just can't believe people are so willing to bend over and let Microsoft anally abuse them.

Glad some people get it. Everyone just looks at the problem in front of them and never take time to consider the bigger picture at the end of the day.

The only way MS would be getting my money is if they impressed me at E3 by doing something colossal to make up for their shambolic reveal, which they didn't. Then again, that Day One achievement sparked my Gamesc-whore side...

I read the first two sentences of the thread, realized it was just another xbone complaint thread, albeit presented in a completely ridiculous way, and immediately lost interest in reading the rest as I can make a pretty educated guess at what the rest of the wall of text says.
We get it, the Xbox One sucks, rather than complain, vote with your wallet and don't buy it because we all know. I have yet to see anybody defend the Xbox One, so provided we don't all complain but buy it anyway I think it's a safe bet that it will tank and Microsoft will either try to control the damage or axe the department entirely.

TL:DR
Shut up about the Xbone,it's bad we get it.

Except I can avoid Steam if I wanted to.

PC is a gaming platform that has been around since the very beginning. I can still play the original 20+ y.o. Prince of Persia on it, if I was so inclined. What would happen to xbone games, once the cloud servers shut down in 10 years? Even if you were able to install games from DVDs you bought, you wouldn't be able to patch those games, and newly released games lately tend to require heavy patching to be at least playable.

Injustices? Nobody's lying to you or forcing you to buy it last time I checked. I'm pretty sure it's well within Microsoft's rights, both legally and ethically, to make a shitty product.

If I found out XBox One's were being made in Chinese sweatshops with underpaid workers or that they were sabotaging the product to break right after warranty expires I might consider this reaction more appropriate.

As things stand I'll just not buy one like I was already planning to do.

Ill put this one thought I have here about the X1.

If Microsoft takes all this criticism and changes the whole console to remedy those issues, you should not be put off from buying it, you should actually be encouraged to buy it (if your an Xbox player or the such). Its basic conditioning. They do something bad you take out the positive reinforcement, if they do something good, give them positive reinforcement.

The reason I'm hostile towards Xbone supporters? Their actions could negatively affect me.

I don't want any part of Xbone, so I don't buy one. You don't mind their policies, so you do. Everyone is happy, and that's the end of it. Except it's not.

Xbone isn't anti-consumer for no reason. It's actually pro-publisher. And if the big guys are making more money off of their Xbone games, they might start shifting their support and even exclusivity towards MS. This could shift market share, further influencing support decisions, creating a feedback loop that might force Sony to adopt similarly anti-consumer features.

So there's a chance I might have to deal with Xbone's bullshit even if I never buy an Xbone. But that only happens if people are stupid enough to buy it, so I'm going to continually hammer home why that is such a fucking dumb thing to do. Not so I can feel superior or get my rocks off. Because I don't want this sort of ideology to permeate the industry unchecked.

Edit: had to check for anything badly misspelled or misplaced behind THAT FUCKING UNCLOSABLE POP OUT AD BLOCKING HALF THE FUCKING TEXT FIELD. Why do I bother with this site?

Do you have any idea how expensive consoles are these days? Especially on my income, no way I am going to buy an overpriced piece of junk so I can later spend EVEN MORE money to buy some games, most of witch will have a single player campaign of maybe 8 hours, so fuck that as well.

PC Master Race, all the way.
