Guitar Hero? Really?

I think they're looking at hype and sales, not quality and gameplay. Or story. Or anything that matters about a game. Just sales.

i hope you are kidding. you overlooked the blisteringly obvious problems and are focusing on guitar hero? that is a phenomenal game! it was well polished and also started the whole music genre craze as well as rock band, leaving us with things like Beatles rock band! if you think that that is a bad thing then you seriously need to reevaluate your standards.

To put it bluntly, they know who their target audience is, and their target audience recognise and probably play most of these games. Mainstream baby, mainstream.

Though that being said, I'm surprised CoD 4 isn't on that list.

It's worth considering that Wii Fit and Wii sports should actually be on the list because of their obscenely wide appeal. Not everyone who games enjoys the games we do.

Now, I've trusted Yahoo News for a long time, until I saw this.

Saying the year "2010" out loud is bizarre, especially since we still don?t ride around in flying cars. But where science has failed us, video games have not. The past decade has been gaming's greatest: ten solid years filled with spectacular technological feats, record-setting sales and, of course, awesome, awesome games. Some, however, are more awesome than others. Taking quality, influence, sales and general greatness into account, here are our picks for the top ten titles released between 2000 and 2009

10. Super Mario Galaxy
9.Half Life 2
8. Wii Fit
7.Bejeweled
6.Wii Sports
5.Halo
4.Guitar Hero
3.The Sims
2.World of Warcraft
1.Grand Theft Auto III

Now, I'm not even complaining about games like Halo or Bejeweled. But Yahoo is trying to tell me that Wii Fit is a better game than Morrowind? This is plain ridiculous! Sales I can understand. about what about taking quality, influence, and general greatness!
