I do miss it, but the costs of buying rights to use the songs could not of been cheap, Plus the new theme song is pretty good.

Still, one can't help but miss it...

I liked it, the new theme was fun, but the old thing was better.

I, for one, miss it

Also, I think this thread would've done better as a poll.
I didn't want a poll where people just click yes and no. I wanted to hear opinions. That is why this post isn't a poll.

the old music was good as it added some humour but the cost was probly too much to get permission for everything.

tho i do like the newer theme
at under 20 seconds long it was under the "fair use" part of copyright infringement, I think the Escapist was just getting pissed off at all the bloggers thinking they "got one over" on Yahtzee and criticized him for it and asking whether he'd be paying royalties.

Dozy prats.
unfortunately you're wrong. since the advent of rap and sampling the 20 second rule hasn't existed. several court cases have changed that "rule". also the laws in the states are different than everywhere else and are much more strict

I guess International copyright stands at 20 seconds, if it was different the Escapist would have been fined alot of money me thinks.

Although saying that the person who wrote "Never Gonna Give You Up" is due a huge amount from Youtube.

I see what you mean about music sampling though on the rap tracks, since its a blatant use of someone else's IP for them to earn money from.

edit, I was meant to say before I was rudely interrupted by my own wondering mind is that the Fair Use law still exist's, but when its proven the rip was calculated to earn monies, that when the court gets all pissy about it.

Yeah, I miss them. Sometimes they were funny and sometimes they set the mood but they were always good song and gave some more flavor to the reviews.

Though presumably it would still fall under the creative, non-profit section of fair use.
