I'd like to take sometime to thank the Escapist and especaily Yahtzee of Zero Puncuation, also to bragg abit. In my english class, we had to write a review of the book Ender's Game. Me, being the non-mainstream -enter noun here- that I am, decided to instead rip the book apart in a brutal critique. I drew my inspiration from our very own Yahtzee (I used all my own joke of course (so i wasn't ripping off ZP at all), but presented them in a not-too-serious manner.) Just today, after my teacher read my critique, I recieved an email from her saying its the funniest student essays she's read and she's a seasoned teacher.

... should probably make this into something people can respond to...
Has anyone else had a similar ZP or any other Escapist web-series inspired moment?
Also, any questions or comments

How about have you had a celebrity-esque moment?

What I mean is the fact that I went on a Doctor Cox rant for five minutes telling someone how stupid they were to dial the wrong number five times in a row.

The calls stopped shortly thereafter.

I try to make my reviews kind of similar to Yahtzee's style. They are usually produce lolz.

Wait...You got to read Ender's Game as required reading? Which freaking English class are you taking, all I got to read in english were crappy Shakespeare plays and books like the scarlet letter.

Well, when I try debate with others over the Internet I take inspiration from Digitalph33r's style.

Against ignorant idiots, it's super effective!

Other than that, I don't steal very many ideas or thoughts from these escapist shows.

I work as an editor doing reviews, and people say that I have the same style of 'if the game / whatever else I may have to review is horrible, I'm not going to lie about it', kind of thing that he has. I don't do it to be like him, and to be fair, I was doing things that way for a few years before he got off of Youtube (and I'm sure he did before that too). Some people just don't like to glorify shit in their reviews, I guess.

Oi!
Stop stealing my thing, dammit!

OT: Pretty much the same thing. A Dr. Cox-esqe rant over treatment of a friend by other friends.
The treatment stopped soon after. I hope it did anyway.

As in It's A Wonderful Live or Arby 'n' The Chief?
Not exactly sure why I'm asking but still.
OT: No, I'm usually super original. And modest.
Although, because I'm a die-hard Spoony fan, I do call people "fucking nimrods" from time to time.
Oh, and I like to do commentaries on horrible Russian TV series, Rifftrax style.

I now wear a fedora wherever I go, talk in a British/Australian accent when I yell at people in traffic and ever since I started watching Zero Punctuation my speaking voice has sped up about 30%.
Yahtzee is a Hero to many.

I've started narrating my life in a way similar to how Graham and Paul narrate the cutscenes in Unskippable. ;)

It's A Wonderful Live

Now, I know he made a script and "ownt himself in his own two sides of the argument", but at least he shows how it's really done.

Watching ZP's sheer brutality towards... well, everything, helped me improve my reviewing skills. Before I never dug deep and made proper critique at media (hey, I could have been a Gamespot employee), but now when I have to review something, I make sure to focus on what makes the book good and bad, and not just have positive mouth diarrhea.

Sorry but I had that way before you did. This was my avatar for a fair while before you joined:

Fret not, your avatar is way cooler. Although I liked the chair through the window one a bit more.

Of course Yahtzee is inspiring, he inspired me and my friend to begin an awesome adventure game years back. Still working on it, though. Well, still getting round to working on it.

I try not to copy Yahtzee's style directly, in fashion or in reviews. He's an inspiration due to both his success and the way he handles it, but I don't want to be another Yahtzee. I just want to be me.

I wondered where that user had gone!
And it was you all along. Well, sorry for nicking your thing. And thanks for the compliment on the avy. Furburt made the base .gif and TheNumber1Zero added all the symbols.[footnote]I do this whenever someone mentions the avy. Nice to give a little credit, I think.[/footnote[
