I agree with that statement, but I have always enjoyed playing the normal lay out pokemon games, I just find them very good fun. They're samey occasionly, agreed, sometimes too simple agreed, but the target audience isn't people in their teens onwards, it's people younger than their teens. Personally, I'd rather see Yahtzee review Steam, as we all come for his humour, and Steam would provide a fair chunk of inspiration I'm sure. Infact I suspect I'm one of the few people on this earth who actually agree with some of hs reviews, but meh. So be it. entitled to views etc. To sum up, I think pokemons great, but they're the same game resold over and over.

Umm, I actually have a problem with the statement that it's overly simplified. It has a very deep metagame, and the breeding mechanics in the game have much more sway in terms of competitive battling than people think.

Take a look at sites like http://www.smogon.com/ to see what I mean

The actual target audience is unlikely to care about EVs, IVs, Pokerus or any of that other crap. Maybe shinies... Kind of like how they made Starfox and awesome flight sim for the SNES, but had to cartoon it up for their target audience.

So can we say it's a deep metagame with a cartoony front?

This thread worries me.

I don't post very often, mostly because If I feel as thou what i think wouldn't contribute, I keep my damn mouth shut. So why does no one else? If you don't like Yahtzee, SHUT THE FUCK UP! I don't feel the need to comment on how much i dislike Apocalypse Lane whenever I see it in the subject line. So why must everyone who dislikes Yahtzee do so?

I'm not saying I can't see how people might not like Zero Punctuation, and I can see how someone would enjoy Game Dogs but from what I've seen it's not for me. That doesn't mean I'm going to go into every post I see about it, and troll!

The reason I like Yahtzee is not his foul mouth, but his style of writing. If he never swore in any of his videos, I'd still think he was a good writer. He reminds me a bit of Douglass Adams at times. This may just be me talking out my ass considering his oppinion of games if often parallel to mine.

OK, now with that out of the way the actual thread. I think it could be a good idea. When I was a we' lad, I loved the original Pokemon games, from release. This was way before merch got out of hand. I was a fan of JRPGs so I really enjoyed it, JRPGs for me died with the introduction of voice acting. It was cool so see what was essentially "vs. mode" in a JRPG. Now it would ALL depend on his execution, I.E. the limerick form Wolfenstein review. At the same time wouldn't surprise me if he never would, by means of flat out refusal.

I love how 1/4 of the escapist forum snaps at the mere mention of yahtzee. He might not be a god, but is it illegal to be a fan of him? I did not notice the thread-starter trying to make a religion out of the guy, did you? Are you the sort of people who go to band-websited and tell them how much their music sucks and how much they should jump infront of a train, because you don't like their style of music?

Also, I know people do, but you should never look up to someone because of their post count. posting "lol" in 1400 threads give you a high postcount aswell.
