Yay! I got my first Xbox Live hate message! I'm so touched...

Given I don't actually own a console, I have no such stories to share. I do however have a (brief) tale of a jackass from an alliance battle in Guild Wars, who PMed me when the match was over to accuse me of cheating and throwing abilities at him and other nonsensical claims, right before telling me he'd get me banned by reporting my cheating ass.

Now when this started I'm thinking "Who the hell is this?", and when he let the accusations fly I'm thinking "Wait, are you serious?", but when I attempted to explain that touch range skills only require the user to enter touch range for the animation to activate, so it doesn't matter if you keep running away after I catch up with you, once the skill on my bar that knocks you on your ass starts animating you're still going to fall flat whether you're stationary or 10 feet away... he'd already put me on ignore.

I wasn't even remotely worried that I would get banned, as I wasn't cheating and the guy was an idiot for thinking that I was (also apparently a sore loser), but the "drive-by tongue lashing" move struck me as a very rude thing to do - so I took a screenshot of the entire conversation, posted it on our forum, and intimated to my guild that I wouldn't be particularly sad to see him bombarded with PMs from a host of random strangers.

My first and so far only one came from somebody on my friend list and someone that actually originally sent me the friend request, of all things. This person hadn't been online for what could have been nearly a year until one day they logged on. Within a minute or so I got a message from them, containing the kind of insult that even you average immature pre-teen MW2 player would frown upon.

Whoever, they are, they got a swift "abusive text communication" complaint filed followed by removal from my friends list.

Was playing Halo 3 at a freinds house. He hadn't played it online at all, so I was on an extremely low level on ranked team slayer. If I'm honest, I'm pretty good at Halo 3. Above average, anyway. The people I was playing against certainly weren't. I got a perfection against them and got a message from a 9 year old Irish kid, telling me to stop being a shotgun noob. I sent one back telling him to grow a pair. My freind hasnt got a message back.

XBL however, I racked up 11 hate messages and 1 death threat, ranging from "why don't you have a mic" to "your a ****** because you killed me/. wouldn't give me the sniper/ for playing as an elite". You get the point

I was playing swat on reach, and was doing really good when dis fag came and only got 6 killz so i decidedd to tall ham hoaw much of a nub he wus.

Mine first message was weird.

Someone, while in game, typed out about a page worth of text on their PS3 while playing Borderlands calling me a myriad of insults because I didn't crack my guns to break the game. He then messaged me shortly after begging that I give him my PSN info so he could download all of the DLC.

Still funny.

My first hate came from RDR on PS3....me and my brother were chillin out at Greenhollow getting Gordo for his Hunter missions.

All is well...until some asshole shows up and picks a fight...we voted him off(after several Kills and Deaths for all 3 involved) and he sent me a message about how I was ***** for kicking him getting my ass kicked...


Then was heading for Fort Mercer and told my brother about a person moving behind us over Posse chat....the guy heard us "Usually smart mouth kids like you that get a bullet in the head" well 20+ kills and ~8 headshots on him later he wasnt as hot as he was spittin!

My first was in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. It wasn't a hate message, but some guy sent me a picture of his scrotum after my team won the match. I got rid of the game after that.

Personally mine took a while to arrive. It was about 3 months after I started playing CoD online and it was something along the lines of: "OMG stop f*cking sniping and play a proper class you f*cking c*nt!" it was a text message but I'd guess the guys about 11.

Curiously I got the highest score in the game; 32:1.

I wonder if that was sent out of jealousy.

I too have recieved a message like that although it was some guys ass. Not sure why he sent me that...

on Rundown and I rushed like a ***** killing everything, getting Pavelow after Pavelow, just raping. Then I got a message from one guy I killed at least 9 times who always camped in the same spot saying "FUCKING CAMPER NÜB!"
I laughed myself to bits. So stupid. After that, I have got a total of 4 hate messages.
For the record, I've got 6 days of MW2 playtime any time soon, so that's quite few.

Halo 3:

Me and at least one other person in my party were doing social slayer. After a strange match in which I was made MVP and out team won, we got the same message from the player at the bottom of the losing team. It was a photo message of his junk with several cock-rings.

Although upon reflection, our team did much better than normal. I could very well have turned down a groupie...

I got my first Xbox Live hate message last night on Halo: Reach! It was a voice message so it sounded like a cat in a blender like always, but what I made out was "next time you play SWAT make sure you get more than six kills...blah blah fuck off."

Oddly it hurt me because despite being a Captain rank, he was on my own team, and because I was the only person with sense who voted for good old slayer instead of SWAT, and seeing as whenever its chosen on Halo Reach (and in all fairness, when ISN'T it) everyone grows magical head-targeting bullets that seem to forget to be equipped to my gun.

Anyway 'Reach Rant' over, still remember your first hate message on Xbox Live, PSN or Wii for that matter?

Send him back a message that says "next time you send someone a hate message, make sure they don't know where you live. I'm watching you."

Haven't got any hate mail, but once in the Reach Beta this guy came along and started ranting about how rubbish the British were at wars. Which was profoundly odd, to say the least.

As I don't talk to anybody at all on games usually (the guy I just talked about audible for complicated reasons), I don't receive much hate. That episode only convinced me this was the right attitude to phasing out the idiot fanbase of most games.
