So, I am making a shield for school, and it has to have some sort of image on it that has some sort of significance. However, I also want to use this for a Renaissance Faire, so I don't want to half-ass it. The shield is your standard design, and it's painted blue on one half, green on the other. What should my symbol be?

And my family doesn't have a family crest, so just avoid that option.

You should do a roaring bear's head in red, and call yourself Lord Bear.

Bonus points for the reference.

Gold goes nicely with both those colors, you could do a lion, or a gryphon. Both of those look good on a shield.

I had to do a similar project. This site [http://www.fleurdelis.com/meanings.htm] was extremely helpful.

Harpy
(virgin's face, neck and breast with the body of a lion)

That's a strange way of describing a harpy. (pulled from link.)

If I had a shield for Renaissance Faire, it'd be a round shield with a painting of Jormungand on it. For those that don't know, Jormungand is a giant snake surrounding the earth at the bottom of the ocean continually swallowing its own tail in Norse mythology.

I would say that gold would be a pretty good color for the symbol. And I would go with a crescent moon or two, but I'm partial to it since it's a part of one of my family crests:
Watson family FTW! Haha

Something like this

These, while fantastic, are by far too complicated for me to do, but thanks. I am looking for something that I can either draw or make a template out of.

Well what are the traits of your family, or what have they accomplished in the past?

There seems to be a bad habit involving dying ranomly in gutters it my family. Maybe a symbol of sn Irish guy laying in the street with a bottle and crossed out eyes would be appropriate.

A white Escapist E on a blue background seems like a fun idea.

It probably would, but I assume that your background is Gaelic from your last name Campbell, meaning "crooked mouth", so maybe a picture of Han Solo grinning?

An alternate name also means "son of the battle chieftain", so a Gaelic warrior would be a cool symbol.
