The other day I was at a concert and over the course of the last 3-4 hours or so, there were a bunch of girls behind me who kept touching my hair (something that's a bit of a beserk button for me) and grabbing my ass and other really great things like that. Then there was a 36 year old guy next to me, who I'm pretty sure had 2 wives or girlfriends or a really odd relationship with his daughter. Near the end of the concert, this guy grabbed my hand dragged it across his crotch. Yeah. I'm not sure if he knew it was me, but it was uncomfortable.

After being thoroughly sexually assaulted for about 3 hours, which is not all that fun, the concert was over and I was almost home. This was the point when I realised that I was aroused really, really angry. Not so much at the people there but at myself for putting up with all that for so long without saying anything, which is something I always thought I wouldn't do.

I was wondering whether my fellow Esacplians have ever endured anything.. unpleasent at a concert, and what was it? And if any of you have ever gone against, or acted differently to, a belief you held about yourself like I did, and what you wish you had said in that situation which probably would have ended it, or at least made you feel better. Mine is the title.

Teehee, accidental Bioshock references.
IS A MAN NOT ENTITLED TO HIS OWN BODY?
NO SAYS THE TEENAGE GIRLS, WE CLAIM THE ASS
NO SAYS THE 36 YEAR OLD MAN, WE CLAIM HIS HAND FOR OUR NUTSACK
NO SAYS THE REST OF THE CONCERT GOERS, WE SHALL NOW TOUSLE YOUR HAIR.
I, REJECTED those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose to go...TO THE ESCAPIST!

I don't really have any concert stories (the concerts I attend typically involve formal wear and me being about the only person in the audience not at least in their 50s), but various acquaintances (both male and female) used to - apparently spontaneously in each case as this happened with several different groups over the years - rub my head for luck. Or something like that. I'm not really sure what prompted that exactly, apparently my short hair was "fuzzy"?

Nothing like that's happened to me. Probably the only reason I've ever been thankful for this mess of a face I've got here. But a friend of mine, well, she was at some concert and this guy kept rubbing up against her and groping her. She's a pretty shy person though, so she kind of did the same thing as in the OP and didn't really say anything. Things got worse and the guy kept asking if she was 18, which she most certainly was not. Nothing too bad, but still not the best night of her life.

But yeah, I completely understand being angry about not sticking to your guns, God only knows how many times I've done the same. Only just recently have I begun actually saying something about this kind of thing, instead of just putting up with it.

I was in a mosh pit, got creamed by this fucking HUGE guy, so I'm like, falling towards the beer covered floor and peoples feet, but the guy who shoulder checked me catches my hand, and his equally massive buddy pretty much threw me to my feet. The sensation of almost-falling and then suddenly soaring through the air was awesome.

I never, ever want to experience it again.

Just got back from a gig actually. Was hit on the head with bottle, a guy behind me started stroking my hair and I very nearly fainted.

I saw a lad being bullied today for being Jewish and even though the arsehole bullying him said horrible, disgusting things about hitler being a good man, I was too much of a pussy to help the lad and I am deeply ashamed of myself.
If you can't beat em join them? Or just kick him square in the nuts.

I know exactly what your talking about. Everyone in my class thinks its alright to just walk up to me and touch my hair, I mean is that really necessary? Its so annoying.

Wait so girls felt you up for three hours, and this is a problem?

I can understand the dude, but the chicks? I dunno man...it sounds pretty decent to me.

Not that I'd know what that's like, considering I'm ugly as sin. Oh well.

And this is why I really don't like going to concerts.... I love Muse, but the crowd at the last gig of theirs were absolute and utter cunts.

I'm never going to an indoor ever again.

Never been to a concert.
I did play at a small thing in school, though, and on my way to the stage the guy who was sitting in for our drummer smacked me on the arse.

... I suddenly feel the need to never see a concert. EVER!

Or at least not the kind that involve groping. Celtic music concerts only!

Aside from a few concerts for a local band (that happens to rock), I've only went to one concert for a big-name band. It was Sonata Arctica, for those interested.

The funny thing is that there were signs posted all over the place saying "No moshing," but there were mosh pits anyway. I got accidentally knocked into one while 8th Commandment was playing. Fun stuff.

The other noteworthy thing that happened was that someone fell over during a mosh. Everyone immediately stopped moshing and helped him back to his feet. Cool people there.

Apparently head trauma locks me into an Irish accent.
I'm not sure exactly why, but that sounds like about 50 different kinds of awesome.
If he's not Irish, and does that near real Irish people, and they've had a few drinks, he will most likely get shouted at if he's lucky ( we really, really hate that) or have the ever loving shit kicked out of him.

I can't stand non-Irish people trying to do our accent. It's not funny, it's offensive and borderline racist.

Been to more gigs then i can remember, but i cant say I've ever had anything like that happen, though i did have one of my ear stretchers kicked out by some bastard little crowd-surfer earlier this year. Suppose it depends on what gigs you go to.

I don't really understand why it happened(the accent I mean, the head trauma was head meeting a iron rail.) I wasn't faking the accent either. for comparison I sounded like Furburt. It was absolutely bizarre.
Edit: Should prolly point out that I normally speak with a southern accent. I also have Irish family (as in from Ireland but moved to US) that I talk to regularly.

People keep commenting on their own appearence in this thread and I don't know why. I'm pretty hideous and this happened to me so rest assured it can happen to you regardless of your looks. You can take this as a good thing or not. I don't see it as a good thing because I don't like being touched/harassed by strangers.

I always stick to my beliefs and principles.. often to my own demise, but I maintain that principles are worthless if you don't stick to them. I've gotten in trouble more then a couple times at work because I flat out will not be talked down to, by anyone for any reason... this did not go down well one time when an executive was having a bad day and decided to yell at me due to his IT problems (I'm a system admin) and was told if he was going to yell like a 5 year old he could direct his issues elsewhere.

That said I have a pretty good relationship with that guy now.. I generally find people will respect you more if you stand up for yourself.
