Yet another Skyrim thread - Opinions on "The Animations of Skyrim"

I loved how the death animation for the giant looked. Watching it get stabbed through the skull was awesome.

That's all well and pretty, but those aren't the animations I'd be worried about. Weapons/kill animations always look pretty. Things exploded into bits or got lopped off back then. I'm still concerned with the other animations. You know, the ones concerning the waxen figures you spend a fair portion of the gaming stealing from, fighting, and staring right in the eye while they stand ramrod still. And gods forbid we show someone with any expression of emotion.

Right back at you. Just goes to show, we all have our troll moments. But thanks for the grub. Actually, looking at your post count I'm kinda surprised I've never run into you before. And no, I wasn't trolling. If it seems like trolling to you then I assume it makes you mad, but if you're not then all's well that ends well.

As long as the trailer represents actual game footage, I don't see why you'd have a problem with my post.

I don't. I just think it's always a good idea to reserve judgment. I know I've personally been less impressed with some games from footage than I was when they were running in real time. "A problem"? No. Just making a suggestion. Take it or leave it.

Damn, I wanted Morrowind 2.0 and they've given us Oblivion 2.0.

Hopefully the Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia (random guess) is Morrowind 2.0.


As for the topic, shitty animation would be a bit disappointing, but not the end of the world. I'm sure I've put up with worse. I just want an interesting world that encourages exploration, a good leveling system that allows me to build up a genuinely powerful character, and reasonably satisfying combat mechanics. Hopefully that's all there.

Saw that video a couple hours ago. Looks markedly better than Oblivion.

As to the whole Oblivion 2.0 thing... I dunno, I don't think it's as much of an insult as some may think. Heck, any sequel of a modern, successful franchise could be a 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever.

MW3 -> MW1.5
Dark Souls -> Demon's Souls 2.0
Etc. etc.

I know, right? I hope these people that think that don't ever play a Zelda Game. lol

OT: Those animations look ALOT better than Oblivion...to be honest it looks a lot prettier to.

Eh, as long as the jumping and walking sideways stuff doesn't look totally ridiculous, I'm happy.
On a side note, anyone else really happy to see those roly-poly dwarven robots back from Morrowind? I am ;-)

That video contains brief snippets and premade animations, mostly finishing moves.

Wait till you see the actual gameplay. The characters all move exactly like in Fallout 3. And I do mean, exactly. Many of the animations were clearly copied over entirely. For example, the werewolves are just deathclaws with some fur stuck on.

Love and defend the game all you like, it looks like it'll be a good game for what it is, but don't try and tell people that the animation is good. It isn't. The characters all move like puppets. I've seen games from 2007 with better animation than Skyrim.

Looks like the animations have been improved A LOT...

Werewolves maybe Deathclaw's with fur stuck on, but thaey have been changed, even if it's just slightly.
