As in stuff like Massive Attack? I just saw them on Wednesday night, they were amazing, best live band I've ever seen.
As in some Massive Attack, but I tend to like the slower stuff.

I'm probably the only person it the world who has both NWA and the Spyro the Dragon soundtrack on their ipod so I'm going with that.

To answer your question, here is my current top 5 song list (in no particular order)

1. Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys
2. Painkiller by Judas Priest
3. On the Outside by Oingo Boingo
4. The Little Things by Danny Elfman (from the Wanted soundtrack)
5. Everlong by Foo Fighters

so, as you can clearly tell, my favorite type of music is pumetaltrocktrack.

(that's punk, metal, alternative, rock, and soundtrack)

oh, and my current favorite groups are Muse and the Killers.

Classical music. I'll gladly listen to anything you want me to hear, and chances are I'll like it, as I'm quite open minded, but I always find myself drawn back to Classical music. Favorite composers include Shostakovich, Beethoven, Brahms, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Borodin among others; my current (recently discovered/re-approached) favorite pieces include Mozart's clarinet quintet, Shostakovich's first violin concerto (again), the fugue of Bach's first solo violin sonata, Vaughan Williams' Suite for viola and orchestra and Beethoven's string quartet Op. 18 no. 5.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'd love to discuss, but it seems I'm possibly the only one on the escapist who is passionate for this kind of music. I've gotten used to that, however. :p

At the moment I'm really enjoying almost any and all rap and hip-hop coming out the Midwest. I think this mainly due to the fact that I grew up in Minnesota, and a lot of rappers are coming out of there or Kansas City. It's tight shit.

Wow, there are a pretty wide variety of tastes here on the Escapist.

Indie.

Wide genre, but whatever. Bright Eyes, Azure Ray, Wolf Parade- all that whiny melodic shit.
I also listen to a lot of...'generic rock', i.e. The Used, MSI, Muse, Placebo, The Smiths, the sort of bands that every one knows and was into at some stage.
I have my 'punk' and 'metal' love-ins too. I'm a bit all over the place, music wise

My reasoning? ...because I like it?
I agree with her. Especially Bright Eyes and Wolf Parade.

Right this very moment I´m having another Frank Klepacki season, so the current genre of choice would be something like electronic/industrial/metal, or perhaps just Rocktronic. It works like this.

Who knows what I will be into next week.

Gypsy jazz FTW!
I demand links!

Currently, I've been loving the works of Wynton Kelly, the (second)most amazing pianist of all time, as far as I'm concerned.

I've listened to django ever since bioshock introduced me to him. Looking for more similar artists. Do you know any?
The closest person I can think of is actually Robert Johnson, the blues guitarist. There really isn't much similarity, but they use some similar techniques guitar-wise.

Ska, because its so damn good (especially Streetlight Manifesto), although I love metal, blues, jazz, rock of most types and a host of other stuff. But I love ska most, because its so uplifting and fun.

Progmetal/rock and a little, well I don't know what Strapping Young Lad is really so I'll just say they're extreme metal 'cause I saw it somewhere.
But mostly Prog like Pain of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Opeth. I love it because it's so diverse and it's just great fucking music!

Glamourous Indie Rock and Roll is what I want.
This!
Listening to a lot of Does it Offend You Yeah?, The xx and Passion Pit at the moment, but generally indie and indie rock. Britpop is also good.

Metal, full stop really; bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest never lose their magic for me, I'd elaborate further but don't really have much time. By the way, I fucking HATE Indie Rock. I don't know if it's mainly because everyone in school claims to be "Indie" or because the music/image of the bands makes me want to take them to a high cliff and send them down to the ground rather rapidly.
I literally could not agree more, i'm in school at the moment, and everyone seems to listen to that indie shit or rave/dance music. God it makes me so angry, why can't people not be fucking retarded and actually listen to good music played by cool people who aren't idiotic sell-outs. Let me elaborate on that, "Kings of Leon", who i think we can all agree are indie, had an alright album, "Aha Shake Heartbeat", then they released their newest album, which is a pile of mainstream...well shit!

OT, my favourite bands at the moment are probably the likes of Kyuss, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains and Mad Season. The last of whom are so very good.
