blues! even though i'm a musician, and intrested in almost every genre of music, i always go back to the blues. just because of the feeling.
My favourite genre of music at the moment is... erm... music?
As I write this, I'm listening to the new album by Basshunter. For the past week, including earlier this evening, I've been obsessively listening to The Beatles. Before that, Dinosaur Jr. Sort that mess out for yourselves, I guess.
If it's any help, my most recent purchases, in order from newest to oldest: Basshunter, Brand New, The Beatles, Dinosaur Jr, Mogwai, Be Your Own Pet, InMe.

I LOVE TRANCE! Yes, its true, Im a trance fanatic. What did you expect coming from me? Im a raver, and in being such I listen to all types of electronic/dance but I enjoy trance the best.
Metal, always has been, always will be. I don't mean nu-metal though, nor most new metal for that matter. Everyone know the 80's were the golden age for metal, and for the most part it's only gotten worse since then. But there are exceptions, many great bands have continued to produce amazing music, and some new bands(more often than not death metal) have been created. I also like many other genres. But Metal is at the top of the list.
I have actually heard of and actively listen to Opeth, as well as hearing tracks from Meshuggah and Gojira. Not a massive fan, I don't mind Opeth, but I prefer my heavier music to be sporadic and energetic, hence why I'm more into bands like Dillinger and the Blood Brothers rather than chunkier stuff like the bands you mentioned. Trust me, I listen to a shitload of different music, and the band below is one example:Novskij said:

Alternative/Indie rock mostly, with a dash of classic rock. I also have a soft spot for Jamie T, oddly enough.
80s hair metal bands, New Wave of British Heavy Metal, 70s hard rock and metal, the remnants and revivals of 80s stuff throughout the 90s through current times, all of Alice Cooper's incarnations, old school style power metal as pioneered by Helloween, classic rock with lots of guitar such as Boston and Jimi Hendrix, 90s Metallica (!), even more Alice Cooper, 80s style current-day bands such as Crazy Lixx, etc.
I'll generally enjoy most any rock that has actual singing and not that screaming gagging stuff. I'll even listen to Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Nickelback, and that sort of stuff. No Korn, Slipknot, etc. I don't listen to that sort of stuff that often anymore, though. I hardly ever listen to FM radio these days.
I'll generally enjoy most any rock that has actual singing and not that screaming gagging stuff. I'll even listen to Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Nickelback, and that sort of stuff. No Korn, Slipknot, etc. I don't listen to that sort of stuff that often anymore, though. I hardly ever listen to FM radio these days.
I don't know if I could nail down a favorite genre. I pride myself in listening to a myriad of music. I could name some favorite artists, but I don't think that would help. I used to only listen to street punk, but I only listen to 2 of the almost 50 bands I used to listen to of that genre. Some of my current favorite bands are: At the Drive-In, Mars Volta, Chick Corea, Hiromi Uehara, Vitamin String Quartet, State Radio, Easy-Star All-Stars, Blackalicious, Jurassic 5, Philip Glass and Joe Hisaishi
Right now my two favorite genres are J-Rock and Ska.
Like J-Rock because I love the Japanese language. I've managed to find a lot of diverse bands with some pretty deep lyrics. It's astonishing when I look up a song and find that the lyrics, even when I didn't understand them, made me feel exactly how one would if they understood them. Favorite J-Rock bands include Ikimono Gakari, UVERworld, FLOW and Abingdon Boys School.
Ska's great for one primary reason: energy. Regardless of what a ska song is about you'll always end up feeling good after listening to it. That same energy is transferred even better at shows. People are dancing, singers joining in with the crowd etc. it's all just so lively and fun. Favorite ska bands include Streetlight Manifesto, Big D and the Kid's Table, Might Mighty Bosstones and Less Than Jake.

Newer Rock like The Killers and even some Linkin Park.
Mainly Rap but, no one like Gucci Mane or Soulja Boy who stand for the death of hip hop. I talking about: Nas, Jay-Z(Depending on the Album), Old Eminem, Wu-Tang like Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco(Opposite of what most people think of new rap), SlaughterHouse, Kid Cudi(Up,Up & Away is nice), Wale, Cassidy, Juelz Santana, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Of Course the Classics, Ice Cube, Dr.Dre, Easy E, Run DMC, And of Course Big Poppa & Makaveli: 2pac and The Notorious B.I.G.
