I used to be right into heavy, introspective stuff, REALLY mellow stuff.

Recently though, I've started enjoying more upbeat stuff - still mellow, but with enough lightness that it isn't tedious to listen to.

Don't worry, just get some mates around and spend a whole day listening to their entire discography

Better get a few days supply, because you might not be able to listen to all of their dozens of CDs in sone sitting.

Currently splattered across hardcore, from the likes of Black Flag and Minor Threat to Gallows, Dead Swans and The Ghost of a Thousand (any reccomendations welcomed). The occasional bit of grindcore, though gravitating away from it. I hate using this word but 'mathcore' is the only readily available and widely known term for bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan and Rolo Tomassi.

There's also a couple of soothing numbers thrown in there, acoustic Alice in Chains and some Final Fantasy soundtracks.

right now I'm having a bit of an off-phase. I'm just playing Nina Simone, Miles Davis and Eric Satie ad nauseum because I have to study and it's really nice. When on the road I listen to progrock because I think it's great 'foreground-music', whereas what I play right now is more background oriented.

I'm listening to mostly ummm fantasy/sci-fi movie/tv/game soundtracks. I'm usually streaming http://radiorivendell.com on winamp off the internet.

Otherwise various except country or R&B.

I love metal and any other type of subversive music, mainly because it's empowering, and not in a lame feminazi kind of way.

Pop. Although I guess that's a fairly broad genre. I don't usually like more than one song from any one band, but I guess you could say that Tears for Fears and Eurythmics are typical bands that I like.

My playlist usually stays the same for a long time.

If you think you might be able to classify my music tastes better, or make some recommendations, take a look at my <a href=http://www.last.fm/user/the1ultimate/library/playlists>imaginatively named playlist on last.fm.

Melo-death metal is my absolute favourite. Children of Bodom, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and so on. But I like other genres as well. I like rock, rap, synth, country, etc. But then the bands have to be really good. To put it better:

Synth: Depeche Mode
Rock: Muse, Billy Talent
Rap: Eminem
Country: John 5 (but he's more country-metal)

Lately I've been listening to Children of Bodom a bit too much. But it's sooo good! :D

Well, it ranges. My musical tastes are pretty vast. As an example I'm a massive zeppelin fan, but i also LOVE muse and tool. I've always been a huge Metallica fan, but my FAVOURITE band is red hot chili peppers. My favourite music ATM would probably be college rock, as I'm obsessed with Cake as of late :p
