Inexplicably, you have the ability to listen to music while you await rescue. Oh, but not just any music! Your only options are... SOUNDTRACKS.

Alright, so if you were stuck stranded somewhere for an extended period of time, and you somehow were able to plan ahead for such an event, what soundtrack would you take with you? It could be from a game, movie, even a TV show (and that includes all the music for all the episodes up to that point). This has to be the only music you listen to for a long time, so choose wisely.

There are a ton of game soundtracks I adore, but personally, I'd choose the music from Cowboy Bebop. Not only is it simply amazing, it's extensive, and I could listen to it basically forever.

Well, Escapists? What do you choose?

I'd choose music from Neon Genesis Evangelion. There's a wide variety of music to choose from the anime and it only gets better with the Rebuild soundtracks. There's everything from light jazz [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYNESJgzEM8] to Beethoven [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQLgL-HeibM].

Lamb of God - Wrath, if albums count.

If it must be from a game or movie, I'd choose the Django Unchained soundtrack.

Very easy choice that requires and demands NO contemplation. Conan the Barbarian. Oh my, Basil Poledouris crafted an untouchable masterpiece with that. I still get shivers from it now and again.

Do West End musicals count? If so, I'd choose the original West End recording of The Phantom of the Opera.

If not, probably the Harry Potter soundtrack. It just fills me with joy.

The stipulation was indeed for soundtracks only, so I will accept your second answer (but can't comment, I haven't seen the movie).

You can indeed pick music from musicals, since it's ~technically~ a soundtrack to some sort of production. Though I admit that's a bit of a stretch on the rules (that's a stage production, right? I'm not familiar with West End), I'll let it pass this time.

Well that's where my second answer comes into play. =P

Ooooo I'd go for the Bastion soundtrack!
If I'm going to be stranded on a desert island, I may as well be relaxed. Heh. :)

Oh, this is a no-brainer... the OST to Nodame Cantabile: great mix of baroque, Classical, Romantic music, popular stuff as well as the less well known works.

And the second OP is pretty good too.

I get to listen to one of the best soundtracks to one of the best games EVER, and feel entirely awesome on a deset island!

Except the second Rebuild movie kinda cheats since it has multiple music tracks from Kare Kano.

But yeah, I'd probably go for NGE, too. It has a nice variety of light hearted, soothing, and epic tones.

Depends. If it was a movie soundtrack, then probably Starship Troopers. If it was a game soundtrack, Bastion, without a doubt.

I wouldnt take soundtrack with me to be honest. I would just take an mp3 player and have it loaded with my favorite music albums. Then sit on that island and listen to music all day. It depends if thats all I could take with me though. If I could, I'd also take a TV and a computer with me as well.

To be practical, I'd pick the soundtrack from one of the longer-running tv shows, just for the variety. Would all the Law and Orders and such count? Hell, I might even pick a soap opera so there's 30+ years of music to listen to. Gotta be something decent there.

Soundtrack from Scrubs, loads of music on that (too many seasons to watch at uni!) and even the intro song is great!

Ooh, that's a good one. Erm, I suppose I'd choose waterworld for the quiet reflective moments (and there'd be a lot of them), but then there's probably better music for hunting etc... ah screw it. Steamboy. best crafted soundtrack ever- I'd never get sick of it.

The Skyrim soundtrack. That way when i'm on the top of a hill an awesome orchestral score kicks in. Either that or the soundtrack to Brutal Legend, that way I can listen to my favourite genre.
