I'd say they need to get out more. I'm not a mean person but I'm really only ever nice when it's convenient for me. I've had people tell me I'm the most laid back person they know and to that I'll note it and continue to be laid back.

Ditto. Though i'm not the social type at all and prefer to be alone or with my gf but that's got nothing to do with my daily demeanour! <3

Anyone here ever experience anything like this?
No, misanthropy gets pretty lame and boring after a while. Liking stuff and being nice to people is actually way more fun.
Damn you, ninja.

I usually say something like "Not really.... I'm just polite" when someone tells me that.
Don't confuse good manners with being nice.

I used to be the nicest guy, but its hard to keep up now. Especially since in real life its not like Bioshock, where good deeds are always rewarded some time in the future. And when you have a personal tragedy, you're more inclined to go darker, because its easier to live that way. Just like Hamlet, or...anakin.

Hmm. A couple of people have said that to me. I find it endearing yet, like everyone else, I'm no saint. It's just a case of things they don't know.

On the other hand I've been called some pretty nasty things and that just rolls like water off a ducks back.

My best friend is the nicest person in the universe

It's almost disturbing how generous and mild-mannered he is

Me? I'm eccentric. People like me for that, apparantly

Yeah, your logic on this one isn't exactly the most sound, dude. Why hate for the sake of hate? Why hate being called a nice guy? I suppose if you watch a lot of House, it would be called for, yet still the fact that it's a TV show makes the entire idea of being misanthropic completely unrealistic.

I find it hard to hate people, but nobody would ever credit me for being the nicest guy in the world.

"Thanks" [Internal monolog: Oh great, the friends zone again]

Wow, lot's of really cool mannered people in here, makes me have faith for the Escapist again. Awesome to see that not everyone here is one of these small and young 'haters of humanity' that started flocking here when MaxTheReaper became famous. Being nice is awesome.

Nobody'd ever said that to me, and nobody will. I'm not considered to be "a polite well-mannered nice guy" around my friends. I think I'm seen as one of the more "morally ambiguous" types, especially if you ask my female friends. That came off a bit weird.

People like me (I think), and they don't think I'm a jerk (I think). I'm like.. currently considered to be the most likely person to commit a crime.

When a girl says you are the nicest person they know, you are in the friend-zone. Good luck getting out you poor fool...
