Are you ever embarrassed to tell someone you're a gamer? A lot of people I know see gaming as immature, and "for little kids".

If someone asks, I'll tell them that I do. But I don't run around and yell that I do, either.

I take the same approach.

I usually get excited if people mention gaming, and I'm not at all embarrassed to tell someone I game. Though I'd imagine my age (16) does help some.

I'm quiet in real life, so when people start talking about gaming .. that's one of the few topics I'm really comfortable talking about.

Hell no. Why should I be embarrassed to like something and to have a hobby? I won't go out and tell people that I game, not right off the bat. But if someone asks then I'm perfectly fine telling them, or letting people watch me play games...

Nah. I don't really ANNOUNCE it. But I mean I'll wear a nerd tshirt or enjoy game humor in public

That I game? Hell no.
How much I play? More likely
That I LetsPlay? Nobody IRL knows, except one who probably didn't understand what it was.

I definitely tell people without embarrassment. Video games are not kids' toys, they are an art form, and I'll usually briefly mention as much when I tell someone I'm a gamer. Sometimes it gets me weird or patronizing looks, and sometimes it piques interest. Telling older people is freaking annoying though... It's painfully obvious that most of them think I'm childish and immature, and their reactions tend to be very patronizing. But for the most part it's not that bad.

I sit in my schools campus center for a lot of hours a day playing games. Currently the group controls 4 of the tables, soon to be 5. 3 of which are dedicated to playing Yu-Gi-Oh (actual cards), 1 for gaming on laptops, and the last as a mix. We're now getting Magic players joining in.

Why should I care what people think of us?

Well, I wear Portal shirts and Ellis's hat to school, and I have an Aperture Science mug, people in my social group think I'm pretty awesome.

I never tell someone I'm a "gamer", I just mention I played x y or z.
Same case with me, I don't consider myself a gamer anymore but when someone brings up games I do state what I have and what I have played.

No.

I'm embarrassed to tell them that I only own a PC, a PS3, and a PSP.
It's pretty lame by the standards of the people I regularly meet.

Sometimes. I always hold back a little in expressing my gaming interests to others until I'm sure they might actually be interested.
