Yahtzee isn't a reviewer, he nit picks games for the sake of it for comedy appeal, "You wouldnt get a sewage disposal team to redecorate your house, and you didn't come to me for positive reviews."

Everyone is saying that he is no game reviewer... He is, but you need to take everything he says with a pinch of salt. I basically agree with everything he has said about certain games which i have played. SSBB for example, i love that game but yahtzee does have a point about the fights becoming complete cartoon maelstrom dust cloud battles at times, and the stuff about becoming "that guy". Ill also agree with him on say Oblivion; I had some fun playing through that game but i never was able to get stuck into it. I have tried playing through it again but it just feels so flat.... Its not the worst game ever as he points out, but all the problems he talks about are there and relevant

L4D, Red Faction, Scribblenauts; we don't watch him for reviews, we watch him for laughter, bile and mirth.

Viva the Yahtzee for that.

I'm pretty sure he said it's up to your own opinion if you like a game or not. Do those words not make sense? These kind of threads keep popping up over that last few weeks. What's the deuce?

As I've grown older I've come to realize that most new games suck. Could be lack of immersion, lack of innovation, or a game with too many errors in design and gameplay for me to like it.

So yes, I usually agree with his critique, not always with his opinion of whether a game is good or bad. For instance, points I agree on would be how Halo is a hyped-up franchise, how Sonic should be put to sleep or how JRPG's are usually the same games.

Yes. Most obvious to me being Smash Bros. Brawl and Guitar Hero III. Is it clear that most of my game time is spent on multiplayer?
brawl is shit, i played it, months after i played SSBM, and had almost completely forgotten that game.
GH3 isnt great. Metallica is better
Multiplayer unless in a dedicated Multiplayer game that went so far to beat and rape the singleplayer as though its a 5 year old girl is shit

Granted there were some irrelevant side quests in Mass effect, but they were just flavor. Most of the things people talk about in the game is politics, most of the politics tie into the war history of the galaxy, which ties into the fight with the Geth, which lead to Sovereign. It's convoluted, but it does have a point. And keep in mind that it's just one part in three, so there's a lot of groundwork to be laid. Putting the argument in my dialect of nerd(I don't know Star Trek), how much of Fellowship of the Ring didn't matter until further along?

Here's a category any games where you agree with every thing Yahtzee said, but still liked the game? i thought Crysis was still fun enough to overcome everything he pointed out, even though it's all true.

i see him more as a critic, that tends to be funny.

here is the thing, he doesnt rate games or give examples of what they could have done better, he overviews what is fucked up with them, like a REVIEWER

A lot of people like the games he reviews but you have to admit
it takes balls to take the piss out of games that have a massive fan-base (Like Halo 3 for instance)

Halo 3 was total and utter garbage anyway, i cant see any actual improvement between the first 3 games, Wars is little more then 3 billion very badly spent dollars, and ODST is crap

You don't watch Yahtzee to see what he likes about a game. Since he is SO one sided, he could help you get past an overwhelming one-sided love for a game. And you watch him to see him cussing about games because it's funny.
Honestly, he has to enjoy them more than he lets on to play them FOR A LIVING. If you hated your job enough to spend hours on end making a cutesy little cartoon on the internet depicting how much you hated your job... you'd probably commit suicide.

This thread is so very annoying. Welcome to The Escapist. We all have different opinions.
No kidding. But like all threads pertaining to LIKES and DISLIKES, it's filled with people who have no tolerance for other's personal LIKES and DISLIKES. Which is similar to having someone bitching you out because you ordered a number 3 at McDonalds and they only like the number 1.
