Yahtzee busts on everything, in general though he's not an RPG man, I am. As a result our opinions on many things are polar opposites.

As he pointed out with Arkham Asylum... having him talk about how wonderful a game is is NOT why you listen to him. :)

Mass effect doesnt have story or plot it has narrative. Good rule of thumb compare Star Trek Original Series scripts with the verbal output of the average NPC in Mass Effect. Notice anything thats right, the hot dog vendors in Mass Effect have more to say than the entire crew of the Enterprise & they can be fairly verbose. Talking is not plot, narrative is not plot, cutscenes & backstory is not plot UNLESS it DIRECTLYcontributes to the furtherance of the MAIN plot line. Otherwise its just a fetch quest to grind XP.

EDIT :- If furtherance isnt a word it should be :D
I don't think you know what the word 'narrative' means. Perhaps you meant 'dialog' or 'exposition'.

Meanwhile, they're only verbose on non-plot central stuff if you go out of your way to chat them up, and providing background and fleshing out your setting DOES contribute to your story.

The original point stands; Yahtzee wants a deep story, but he also has severe trouble actually paying attention to any story long enough for it to develop any depth.

Valkyria Chronicles (I played a demo and now I want the whole game), and mirror's edge (same) come to mind, and I'd be more than happy to give the witcher a try. Also, I fucking loved oblivion.

A lot of people like the games he reviews but you have to admit
it takes balls to take the piss out of games that have a massive fan-base (Like Halo 3 for instance)
Halo 3 was total and utter garbage anyway, i cant see any actual improvement between the first 3 games, Wars is little more then 3 billion very badly spent dollars, and ODST is crap

im not saying that im just saying that it has a fanbase and that a few people were a little pissed off by it

although i did agree with him on most of his points

I can't say that I have a total view off every game he's played, but so far I can say that the one game that I didn't like that he did (please don't flame me for this), but Fallout 3. I respect the person that can play it, but it's just not my cup of tea, was confusing for me, and I would eventually figure out but I figured that if it might take me more than a week to figure out some of the parts, then I'm just not into it.

I will admit that I will pick up Overlord 2 to try and continue it, but I could tell that the best part was the beginning, and I have been dreading to actually play the game due to it being horrible..thus I will purchase it dirt-cheap, just to say I have it. (and it's really because I'm a fan of Overlord 1, which was fun, in an interesting sort of way)

Also, I like some Japanese RPGs, I understand why Yahtzee doesn't like them, especially since he told the interviewer why he hates them. But I understand the concept of some of the RPGs and will still play them (though, I will admit, looking through the list, Yahtzee doesn't touch any of the Japanese RPGs that I like.)

And he is a critic, which that's what they are here for, to nitpick every bits and pieces, and despite his hatred for them, take note that he doesn't actually tell you not to play, unless it's a game that's so horrible that he states that. (Jericho being the one that I remember that he didn't want to recommend it, the two he hinted at was the Conduit and Too Human). So if you can tolerate his nitpicks, then it's good.
