OT: I have no real preferred genre. While I mostly listen to rock and metal, and its many sub-genres. I also like a big bit of everything.
Like recently I've been listening to Ayumi Hamasaki a lot. But I've also been listening to Bad Acid Trip excessively.

But If I have to chose a genre, then I go with either Post-Rock or Blackened Death Metal.
You know what, scratch that. I listen to too many genres to have a preferred on. Lets just cut it short and say that I like most genres.

I didn't expect to find fans over here, by my understandings SYL is not very well known, at least over here in Finland I only know a couple of guys who listen to it. It's really awesome band, too bad they quit few years back

Not sure I'd class In Flames or Children of Bodom as melodic(but then again, what do I know?)

They both have a n-number of melodic songs.

Nightwish is finnish, in other words, not scandinavian (scandinavia is Norway, Denmark and Sweden, I'd know, being Norwegian).

I didn't know that. I had always thought that Finland is a part of Scandinavia. Thank you for teaching me that.

Also I'm pretty sure that CoB is from Finland as well so they too wouldn't count, eh?

For a long time, I never had a favorite. I just listened to whatever artist I fancied at the time. Now, however, I do have a favorite.

Symphonic Metal.

Nightwish and Apocolyptica, for example.

This kinda changes a lot. The are genres that keep coming back though, they are Trance (Armin van Buuren, W&W, Sean Tyas etc), Drum & Bass (Spor, Calyx, Noisia etc), Industrial Hardcore (Meccano Twins, Mindustries, Ophidian etc) and Death Metal (mostly the slightly more melodic Swedish side, like In Flames, Dismember, Bloodbath etc).

And I can enjoy pretty much anything in between, but these are the main ones I think.

Reggae and the various transformations of Ska. If I had to be more specific then probably Dub Reggae and and third generation Ska/ Ska Punk would have to be my favourites. Been a fan of Reggae music in general for quite a while, mainly Ska Punk acts like Sonic Boom Six [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1XalWiJt6g] and Reel Big Fish [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2NCF8PrK5s]. However, I have recently gotten more into earlier Ska [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1Pp3Ar3XX0&feature=related] and really into Dub Reggae [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgIv-T2QkRA] after having to study Reggae music as part of a College Course I'm currently in the final year of doing.
