You have a development team of 1,000,000 people... What game do you have them create?

The ultimate zombie game. Entire world mapped out, you get to plonk yourself anywhere and have complete control of all the variables from type of zombies, infection speed, realism difficulty, basic objective, character profession etc. Basically just a big zombie playground that you can either play realistically by barricading yourself in a building and finding supplies or just piss about and run zombies over in a lawnmower.

A huge Steampunk MMO with a persistent online world that changes depending on individual factions actions'

Open world, story/character driven game in which you rebel against an empire that has overrun the world, such as China (NOT RUSSIA!). I really liked the MW2 level in the neighborhood. The juxtaposition worked so well.

Or the same concept with a Mass Effect-esque universe.

luckily we're not trying to deep fry a game, because game devs are rotten chefs.

OT: I'd make my dream. A fully customizable game. You're given a blank slate world essentially that the consumers buy and then can buy with a starter pack of an open world 3rd person game or something.

What happens though is, that with all the same tools and the same engine, hundreds of sub teams are set free to make whatever game sets they want. They can make characters, whole scripted events, stories, worlds, enemies, vehicles, weapons, powers, etc. and they all fit together in like lego pieces.

So you can buy entire games, with changes as huge as camera angles, physics properties, abilities and even art styles, or you can say, buy separate pieces and make whatever game you want. You could fit a post apocalypse city with cyborg ninja enemies and you're an alien with pyrokinetic powers. Everything there you just have to put together.

And the best thing is that it'd all be reasonably priced.

I'd call it the Omnigame series! :D

It's the ULTIMATE DLC!!!

inb4 Episode 3.
I'd make a realistic zombie game.
Trouble is thats probably what its gonna take to release episode 3.

Um, I'd kill wow. Thats it, I'd make a relentlessly addictive MMORPG and then start a viral ad campaign IN WOW to get people to play my game instead, offer bonuses like guns/armor for people who had epics in wow and just make absolutely sure to KILL WOW.

i would get them to make a game consisting of one text box that says
"press this button to transfer some of our unlimited development funds into the lead designers bank account"

click the button a few hundred times and retire...

on the more serious side of things?

GTA:EARTH (or something similar, preferably not set within the GTA universe, but whatever)

basically, just fully render everything based on google maps... MMO or single player, doesn't much matter (probably too big for an MMO, though you could assign territories or whatever)

failing that, a holodeck

I'd rather take those people and budget to build wells, schools and hospitals in developing nations.

pong. but the bats were taxi's. and the ball is a stickman. oh wait i already made that... um... i would make a FPS/TPS where you and your team are playing in a strategy game and one person on the team upgrades the footsoldiers and marks objectives. i think that would be sweeeeeet.
I have a better one: a Tycoon/Hack&Slash/RTS\Sandbox RPG where a group of players control a kingdom and make alliances\wars with other kingdoms.
One (or maby more) person will be the king and have control of the kingdom (think Tropico).
some players will be the generals and command the army.
everyone else will be powerful mercenaries that can go to the king city to buy equipment, do certain quests for the king or join in a massive battle between the kingdoms.

Seriously... drop the whole seriousness thing. This is in the game discussions isn't it? Thus it is about games.

An MMO with the same style of combat system as Demon's Souls.

It'd have things like:

- A huge open world.
- Castle Sieges. (Lineage 2 style)
- Dungeons and Raids. (Raids wouldn't need a set number of people to complete just recommended numbers so for instance if you had an elite group of 5 players you'd be able to complete 20 man content)
- Roaming world bosses capable of attacking towns. (Think of Shadow of The Colossus sized monsters among other smaller ones)
- Player created questing, players would be able to make quests for other users, the way this would probably work would be if certain crafting items could only be obtained through player created questing.

That's all I can think of currently but I still reckon it'd be awesome.

The matrix. The whole world. Guns and kung-fu included.
There was once a mod for the original Half Life called "The Specialists". Doesn't seem to be around anymore but it pretty much involved everything about the matrix.

Also, I'd Make G-Police 3. PLEASE tell me I'm not the only person who loved that game (and dream about it being re-done in the source engine).

Unlimited funds, resources and people?

....I don't think we have the technology for the game I'd liked to create, or anything capable of running it.

A full world simulator with functional AI.
Anything that happens in this world can happen in that world.

The Sims/Second Life maybe?

Okay seriously guys... stop fussing over the 1,000,000 employees. Just pretend they are all perfect. Kay? we good... any more picky people?
Well in that case...

I'd have them create a piece of software that makes it possible for a PM to manage a project with a million developers.
