do your research.
you would find the Wii has more muscle than the PS2.

If i'm not mistaken there is a (processor/CPU) clockspeed difference of 200MHz in wii's favour

I know I'm quoting yahtzee here but nothing ages worse than a game that aims for realism
You're right, mainly because realism fails in it's aim of being actually realistic. Though I liked both WW and TP, though I can certainly appreciate WW's style.

But how does relate to your theorem that the Wii is just like the PS2 was?

They are quite comparable in that the PS2 was the most successful for its generation, and the Wii has so far been the most successful for its generation. Maybe next generation it'll be Microsoft's turn, eh?

Wasn't the PS2 the strongest considering it had the greatest game support, the xbox having only multiplatform games and Halo, and the Gamecube just living off of Mario and his friends having parties and playing sports?
See Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, for the Wii.

Sure the Wii sells well, but the crap that is on it outweighs the good games. Sure, graphically it isn't as good, so you can sort of compare it to the PS2, but even then the PS2 was able to pretty much keep up with the others. The Wii can in no way come close to what the 360 and PS3 can do, and will not have the sustainability the PS2 still has.

I kinda agree with this on some respects. Both consoles kinda came out of no where and got popular. I mean sure the ps 1 was good but many people still liked N64. But then ps 2 game out and just took over the market while Nintendo did bad with the game cube. This generation more people were expecting a great Play Station and didn't really think much of Nintendo but then the Wii blew the lids off the gaming industry.

The PS2 was the weakest of all the consoles? That's hard to argue for.. Considering it had Ico, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Final Fantasy X and XII, Shadow of the Colossus.. And that's from someone who got a PS2 very, very late on. The list is almost endless for classic PS2 games.
I think he meant in a technical sense. The PS2 had lower graphical capabilities and processing power than either the GC and Xbox...
as far as game library goes yeah it had an amazing library with some of the best 3rd party support evar...

the ps2 outsold EVERY console last year, it have survived for 9 years and going, it had many high-graphic games.
The Wii have games with worse graphic than the ps2, and longer games as well, with more realistic character models.
btw the Ps2 have sold a lot of Jrpgs, it what the console did best, and almost all of them had more or less realistic character models, i recently played both Persona 3 and Final fantasy x, and they both have aged well IMO

The Wii has triple the processing and graphical power of the PS2 and Gamecube. (which is rather sad. The original Xbox has almost the exact same specs as the Wii, also having 3 times the power of the GC and PS2)

Still, the PS2 was the best console last gen for game selection.
The Xbox was the expensive powerhouse.
The Gamecube was Nintendo's console to play Nintendo's franchises on.

For this gen, we don't really quite have the same console roles. At all.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 are both relatively powerful consoles with their own game selection being brought to the table.
The Wii is a sales juggernaut with last gen power that has a lot of shovelware, along with a few classic games, most of which are Nintendo's franchises, with a few notable exceptions.

I remember the game 'Black' being the PS2's final hurrah. It was definitely a better console graphically than some people give it credit for.
that game is graphically better than most of the games out this gen.

keyword: most.

the wii doesn't even have HD for christ sake. I know it isn't important, but if you want to play monster hunter tri on a 40 inch HDTV then your going to have problems visually.

the PS2 is amazing. still is. it pisses me off that the PS3 doesn't have backwards capabilities considering my PS2 broke down. the PS2 had such great games like shadow of the colossus, the final fantasy games X-XII, the Jak and Daxter series, Ratchet and Clank series, Kingdom fucking Hearts, Silent Hill 2, the list goes on. mainly because of the massive third party support. the xbox only had Halo, and that's on the PC now so it doesn't even have that, and as soon as Halo 3 and Reach are on the PC, no point in a 360 either. the gamecube was just an N64 with discs and wasn't nearly as good. same with the wii, nothing new ever gets made by nintendo any more. the only original console in the last two generations was the PS2.

It seems you tried to tackle two points at once. Anyhow, due to the whoring out to everyone, the 360 is most like the PS2. They both submitted to massive game libraries, pumping out many generic games, instead of going for something new. I enjoy my 360, but when I browse any store this fact is apparent.

Sorry, but there is one key difference. The PS2 has dozens upon dozens of great games, while the Wii has very few good games. I would be loathe to compare the Wii to the PS2 at this point in the Wii's lifespan.
