Not anytime soon mind, don't worry; this isn't a "I'm suicidal" type thread, quite the opposite in fact. I'm happy with my life. I have strong enough opportunities for the future to make a good living and nothing major to complain about. You see, I occasionally read or hear about people who are afraid of death, some to the point where they obsess over it, trying to prevent their eventual and inevitable demise for as long as possible. I don't understand these people. I also read about people's musings on death, theories and predictions as to what happens when we die. Eternal happiness, reincarnation, returning to dust and nothingness, like our lives didn't even matter. I don't understand that line of thinking either.
None of that is at all relevant to me, yet I do eventually want to die. Why is this you ask? Not out of contempt, not out of curiosity, No. The reason is simple: The threat of my death makes my life worth living. It makes life much more exciting that way. The fact that the cruel hammer of fate could swing down upon me at anytime gives me even more of a reason to get as much enjoyment out of LIVING as possible. As weird as it might sound I think death makes life more fun! To take away the threat of death removes all reason to live. To put that another way, without death life is meaningless (the opposite is true also) and who knows, maybe dying is just as much fun as living! (probably not, but maybe!)
So discuss! Agree, Disagree, think I'm absolutely bat-sh*t insane, all opinions welcome.
