Maybe the end of Assassin's Creed 2 where you don't kill the pope, which after a long fight seems like a loosy excuse to get a sequel in the same time period.
Know anything AT ALL about the story? Every main enemy you kill in any of the games was a real person that died around that time. Ezio didn't kill him... because it's RECORDED that he died the way he died in ACB, plus or minus some creative details.
They could've set the end later to make it seem less like a lousy excuse.
It also fits in with the idea of him not needing revenge anymore. Granted he has to fix his mistake later, but it makes sense from a storytelling perspective if they were going for what I think they were going for.

Bioshock... The last boss was too easy.

Fallout 3. The whole lead up to the last boss was epic, with Liberty Prime (when he didn't get stuck on a pebble). But once you get to the building and find the evil mastermind, it took me one shot to his face to blow it into confetti. Then it's PowerPoint slideshow time.
COLONEL AUGUSTUS ISN'T A DAMN BOSS. Sorry about that but I get really annoyed when people call him one. It's like when people say that Lucien from Fable 2 is a boss. Just because he's a villain and it's the end of a game doesn't make him an end game boss. When someone dies from one shot to the face they're not a boss. Not all games need to end with a boss, especially long ones like western RPG's when after you've logged several days of gameplay, the satisfaction of just killing an enemy is all that's needed.

Pokemon Red/Blue. The entire theme of the series is that you have to "catch 'em all". Even back when there were only 151 critters to catch, it was a pretty daunting task. But you keep trying 'cause there's that one guy in Celadon City who tells you to come back for a reward once you've completed your Pokedex. You gotta figure that the reward for doing something as tough as catching every Pokemon in the world must be pretty awesome, right? A secret battle with Professor Oak? Access to a secret area filled with super-rare PokeGods, perhaps?

Well... Not quite.

Yaaaaay.

The ending of Assassins Creed 2 nearly destroyed the rest of the game for me...even though it didn't I absolutely love that game. I just couldn't believe that Ubisoft would actually think that ending would either make sense or be cool.

Not just that but let's not forget how Ubisoft go back on themselves with Assassins Creed 1, Lucy has no bloody finger.....OHHH WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN? Then she does in the 2nd one and then they finally decide that people don't need to lose their finger to become an Assassin...bloody hell.
Just to be a pedant. Lucy was actually only tucking her finger back as a signal to Desmond. She has five fingers the rest of the time.

Also, the ending isn't supposed to make sense on its own (though it makes a bit more sense if you pay attention to the lore) it's meant to build up the ongoing storyline. Those Who Came Before were mentioned in the first game, so it wasn't an asspull on Ubisoft's part.

Anyway, I'll stop now before I go off on a fanboy rant. I'll let you go back to disliking it. Each to their own and all that.

I must be the only person who actually liked the original Fallout 3 ending.
It didn't really bother me that there wasn't a 'final boss', to be fair in this day and age you don't get any real final bosses anyway. The slide show was suitably ominous, and it's not like the rest of the game actually has cutscenes anyway!
Was alright by me.
Indeed. I feel that some people complain too much sometimes. Kudos to people who actually got a game company to change the game and all, but really what does it make you look like in the public eye? And besides, I'm pretty sure Bethesda gets its revenge by making you pay more for it. So, who really won here?

"Business war never really changes..."

EDIT: Besides, the epic part was suppose to BE with Liberty Prime. That WAS the boss battle, against an army of Enclave with vertibirds bombing and shooting you. Autumn was just the aftermath, like when the hero finds the man in charge, shares a few words with him, and then blows him away. Didn't you guys ever watch movies like that?

Far Cry 2.
The end of Borderlands's main story. DLC kind of made up for it.
Fallout 3's ending - make no mistake, I loved Fallout 3. It's just that the ending sucked.
The end of Killzone 2. Just because you're planning to make a sequel is no excuse to put almost no effort into the ending of your game, Guerilla.
Final Fantasy XIII. The ending wasn't bad on its own. It's just that it in no way justified the hours of pure misery that game put me through.
The end of Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare was also pretty horrible. Don't get me wrong, the game was great! Just the ending was pretty... abrupt.

Jak and Daxter on the PS2. After completing the game it tells you to collect every single power cell to open a door and see the "rest" of the ending.

The rest of the ending is around 5 seconds of footage of a door opening and a bright light... That's it. I was upset.
it pissed me off SO MUCH

You misinterpret my post I absolutely love the series but I still think it was stupid some of the things they've done with the series.

The ending of the second one was dire, the ceremony thing was just slightly gay and too cheesy for my liking. (Anyway who says you need a bit of cheesiness in things deserve to be bagged)

Ah fair enough then. I didn't mean to come acorss as hostile or anything, some things just push my pedantic button. And I can share sentiments with series you love doing stupid things *looks at Resident Evil*

Far Cry 2. Terrible game, Terrible Ending.
I thought it was crap at the time, but it's actually pretty good.
You save thousands of lives, you learn a harsh lesson (not to trust fucking anybody, although i'd already learned that on the first mission for the APR when APR soldiers started fucking shooting me) when your "friends" show up for the diamonds, and you get complete closure. You're a terminal case anyway, and to be sure, you now have a bullet in your face or half a cliff burying your body.

Dungeon Siege 2. Spent the entire game leveling my characters with a plan and spending all my points carefully. Each successive boss fight got harder and only barely survived the penultimate boss. Then it came time to fight the big baddie with the supposedly indestructable armour. I was pumped and ready to do some strategic ass-kicking.

Turns out it's a puzzle fight. As in, you don't even attack the boss. You lure him into a lasers path. Once. Cutscene: he's dead. Victory... sort of. I loved the game until I got to the end. Then I hated it.

Out of freakin' nowhere, it's the home conversion of the Robocop side-scroller arcade game. Pretty good to play through... well, OK, the actual platform levels were a bit iffy, but the boss fights and between-level minigames were excellent. At the end, after you've shot up the ED-209 and the boss of OCP's gone out the window?

High score screen and a small bit of movie-related text. Ngh. The title screens are actually better.

I've not got to enough rubbish ones to remember any others... they don't stick in the mind much anyway - the good ones do it better :D

BTW is anyone else getting massively distracted/annoyed by that fucking Kinect Sports advert frantic-ing away in the bottom right corner? I'm putting my adblocker on that bastard. Sorry escapist. I don't want my hits suggesting to MS that it's worth keeping around. Plus everyone in it has obscenely huge open-plan living spaces.

Gears Of War 2.

Damn you Cliffy B and making me play through that piss poor excuse of a sequel. I go through the jumping of story plots that would have been interesting only to have them just give up on them to move onto the next part. It's like the lead story writer had an extreme case of ADHD.

***SPOILERS***

So we have the stupid plot jumping, then they take out the Beserker. Easily one of the best enemies to fight in Gears of War. When the Berserker broke through the wall. You ran the fuck away. So instead we get the Brumak... which was meh really. So the final boss... is a Lambent Brumak. Who just twitches in the center of the Immulsion river and does NOTHING. All you do is hold down the trigger for the Hammer of Dawn and keep the Brumak in the middle of the screen and you win. Yay Me. Sooo lack luster.

EverQuest... I got banned for lack of better words, not knowing the ORIGINAL (6 year old) secret password to the secret question to my account, because the current password isn't good enough for them. Fully raid geared berserker in a top 3 game wide guild banned....
