Back in the not so long ago day moral choice was all the rage in games. It didn't have any real bearing on the main plot, it always ended with you killing the bad guy, or one of to ending AMVs playing. What I'm interested in knowing is about your moral choices in that between area where all that side quest and free roam nougaty center is.

Murder, did you slaughter without a second thought no matter who got in the way, or where you the goody goody that wouldn't even kill a bandit because they're people too. Was stealing below you, or did you take everything that wasn't bolted down AND on fire.

I'll steal anything that's worth more then how much it weighs, but I'll only kill when contracted too, or there are few enough witnesses that I can kill everyone without alarm being raised.

Unless of course I'm trying to roleplay to myself (increases replay value) then it depends on what I'm trying to do with that specific character.

So my fellows what do you do when given the moral choice system?

With regards to moral choice, I find that I always start out trying to be the bad guy, but by the end of the game I wind up along the path of righteousness somehow. I'm a pretty nice guy in person, and so even though I know it's a game, I still can't bring myself to do extremely horrible things in games, especially if the consequences are long-lasting. For example, in Fallout 3, I almost never blow up Megaton these days, mostly because It means I will never be able to visit the town again in the entire playthrough, and because each time I play I spend about 50-80 hours in the wasteland (I'm still without the DLC), I like to keep the friendly civilizations around just so the game wont feel so empty.

Typically goody goody, but I love playing evil now and then. Of course, I'm fine with being the bad guy in games like Grand Theft Auto.

Always evil...

Not because I think of myself as evil, but because the good side never really yields much of a bonus while the evil side holds riches and fame with a minor cost of morals bending!

For example: Fallout 3. If I take the good route, I lose all my money and only have the things I wanted with a stupid dog and a house I don't use. While in my evil run, I end up with more things I could ever dream of while only wasting a couple shots into whoever has the items I crave!

I tend to play as Lawful Good in Bethesda games, which is odd because my natural alignment in real life is Chaotic Neutral. I just can't bring myself to blow up Megaton, and I would rather take an honest path than go straight for the rewards---I role-play the character as someone who sees the Capital Wasteland and thinks, like his father before him, that "I can make a difference here."

I like to, when possible, kill absolutely everyone. This was bad for me in Fallout when I killed everyone in Megaton on my first play through with a baseball bat (Took ages) So I killed the plot guy, so I didn't know where to go next. That sucked, but I enjoyed killing everyone.

Also the name of the topic, I've heard it in a Bloodhound Gang song, but where is that quote from?

I find it very hard to play anything other than the good guy.

That said, I will steal anything that's not nailed down if I need it. Call it a standard RPG reflex - ever since FF7 I've been totally comfortable with wandering into peoples' houses and taking every possession they so helpfully lay out on the floor for you, and it's a hard habit to break - but the way I see it, I'm going into a far more dangerous situation than the NPC is, I'm not causing any serious harm, and my death will have far more severe consequences than the NPC's. If he dies, then there's one dead guy. If I die, then the Enclave wins, then everybody in the Wastes dies.

I guess you could say I play the noble thief - chaotic good through and through.

It may mean nothing, but I don't steal any food items around characters who seem more needy than myself.
I also won't steal from characters who aren't cunts.
For instance, I would steal from say... Sten but not from Oghern.

In the end, I try my best to only smash those who would've probably just killed indiscrimatlely anyway.

In any RPG I play, I can't help but steal any valuable object I see and will kill someone if it will get me what I want.

So I pretty much play as a hedonist.

I generally just play a morally gray opportunistic bastard. I won't kill people randomly, but if there's something in it for me I'm willing depopulate the countryside.

(As an aside, PhunkyPhazon your avatar is fecking trippy)

Boobies are the only thing that can get me from not being an asshole (in games).

i just played the good guy route for the first time in a game on an alt of me2 and it was the hardest thing for me to do, because some people are douchebags and NEED to be brutally murdered and twas very hard for me to say nope i'm going to let you live.

When dabbling in the moral spectrum, I often choose to to play as a good guy. When confronted by violence i rip, rend and stab as much as the next guy.

Should I be faced with surrendering persona's (an event most often reserved for npc's with actual names), I tend to be lenient and I restrain myself.

Common thievery however is a practice I often partake in. If the game does not penalize me, I rob people blind. If nobody objects I'll strole into your house, nick your heirlooms and then waltz over to the pawnshop.

I usually had two playthroughs of games using such a system (KoToR etc.) - I'd do a 'good' run and a 'bad' run. That way I usually managed to see everything there was to see. It was annoying that I did it for this reason, rather than because I genuinely felt that way morally, but we all know the system had major flaws.

I usually go like 90% goody-two-shoes, and 10% total bastard(because sometimes it just pays in the long run to do a real fuckery)

Just look at my ME2 file: level 5 paragon, level one renegade. I punched the reporter in the face. In my defense, she was a ***** and had it coming. I also set the Krogan on fire. He also deserved it.
