Well, the Netherlands border two countries, Belgium and Germany. So it really is a no-brainer and I pick Belgium. Pretty much no difference but with better food and nicer people (and terrible road sign-age, but I'll manage to live with that).

Taking a slightly longer view (including across the water), there's the UK, which is a nice place to visit, but I don't think I'd want to live there for the rest of my life.
dude, we got the autobahn with no speed limitations and beer and bretzeln and rammstein and more.

just think it through..
The Autobahn is tempting, but I don't really care for Rammstein, and Belgian beers are the best in the world (it is known).

No.

One always has options, even if they have to be made up or pulled from one's bottom.

I myself would pull an L. Ron Hubbard and haul ass onto a ship... boat... dinghy thingy, whatever. Catch me if you can, Bro Stalin.

Not being allowed to ever leave a country sounds like a hardcore deal breaker to me. No one is the boss of me. Except for my boss. And my boss's boss. And his boss. But not even they have the power to cut my wings, tear out my tongue and twist my spine. This brain is meant to roam free, even though the meat suit is slowly, but steadily deteriorating.

Well, I live in Russia.

Belarus, Ukrane, Latvia, Finland, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, North Korea, China, US, Georgia, South Osetia.

I can't say that I am short on options.

Well, possibly Kazakhstan, China or the US, if you will live somewhere for the rest of your life, it better be someplace big. Possibly China, since I prefer the Chinese government over the US one, maybe just because I am a wikileaks supporter and a conspiracy theorist, might give me a few nights without sleep, knowing that there is now NDAA.

China has human right problems as well and most likely much more then the US, just I try to support the Wall streeters more, so I can sleep calmly in Shanghai.

Plus, I will have a lot of people to talk to in China :D

Hmm. I haven't really heard good things about Mexico right now. So, looks like I'm moving to Canada. That doesn't sound too bad actually.
Have American citizens ever heard good things about Mexico....
Actually, I have been to Mexico on vacation quite a few times in the past. And it is pretty nice there.

I had no idea so many folks at Escapist were European.

THE MORE YOU KNOW!

Me, American. Now if I was FILTHY RICH, I'd go to one of the nice spots in Mexico like Cancun or Cozumel. But alas I am a normal person, so I'd have to go with Canada. Can't go to Montreal..., Bruins fan... so let's see. I suppose I'd go with Toronto, Calgary, or Edmonton.

There's almost 750 million people in Europe. Compared to 300m in the US. Can't be that much of a surprise?

The "more you know" tag intended that I was being a facetious. But in all honesty, I say it was quite a derp moment before I posted, but I figured what the hell, I'll post it anyway. In short, yes, I'm aware how stupid it makes me sound to say that so I said it anyway. 'MERICA!

Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, France (Do colonies count?).

I'd have a hard time choosing between Argentina and Uruguay, but the whole "Never leave the country you go to again" would make me tend towards Argentina. More to see and do (Obviously, what with the size disparity), besides, there's the welsh colonies down in Patagonia I could always hang out at...

Wish Chile had borders with Brazil, or I'd take that choice.

How do you get over Portuguese though? I hate the language. It's like drunk Spanish.
Lol really?

A few months ago when I was deciding to learn a new language Portuguese just about edged out Spanish for me, partly cos I preferred the written form of the language. Although now that I listen to it I kinda know what you mean. I don't particularly love the sound of either language (although they're both growing on me). Generally I much prefer Italian and Russian in that respect.

What are Chilean-Argentine relations like? I can't tell if they're properly tense, if there's just a rivalry or if I've just been completely mislead.
Have you been checking out Brazilian or Portuguese... Err... Portuguese Portuguese? I can see the whole "Drunk spanish" thing with Portuguese Portuguese (lol), what with turning every S or Z into a slurring Shh, but most of Brazil isn't into that. Just the Cariocas (people from Rio).

I live in the U.S. I would totally pick Canada. It's like the U.S. but colder and they actually care about hockey.

Country
Netherlands
I live in the Netherlands, and I'd choose Belgium. I would be able to keep speaking Dutch (I'd manage in English, French, or German too if it was necessary but I'd rather not), and my friends would still be able to come and visit me regularly if I stay near the border.
If I didn't have any friends or relatives in The Netherlands, I'd choose the UK instead (if I'd be able to travel through and live anywhere in Great Britain and not have to choose between England, Scotland or Wales).

I think it would actually be greenland
And as Greenland is part of Denmark I guess you will also be allowed there! :p

OT: As a Brit I would probably choose Belgium... Ireland I probably wouldn't fit in, and I can't stand the French! (Like someone mentioned above, I am also British!)

Belgium also has good beer, nice towns and some great people! Also, less bloody canals! (Sorry Netherlands, but your flat lands and damn canals annoy the hell out of me!)

Brazilian. I do know about the "sh" sound in European Portuguese, otherwise I haven't really paid attention to its particularities compared to Brazilian Portuguese.

I was thinking more with the "ão" sound although I actually like that part of the language.

If we count the Home Nations as four separate, not just under the banner of Great Britain, I'd move to Scotland. All my family history is there, and it's a lovely place.

If we counting it as Britain, from the off I'd be tempted to say France. Good wine, good weather, good food, good countryside and a good language. That's got to be a winner, I think.

Definitely Canada. Probably in Ontario cause that is quite literally the only location I know to be in Canada. I wouldn't be caught dead in Mexico, Iv'e heard some horror stories. Plus I am not a very big partier, nor do I drugs, and nor do I wish to be dealing with a corrupt government....so Mexico isn't in my list of preferable living spaces. I'll just go to Canada and find a quiet place to settle down and enjoy life as it is.

Well I live in England. The only countries that border us are Scotland and Wales, and we're all pretty much the same culturally.

I guess I'd say Scotland.

Technically, you could also move to Denmark on those premises, as Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark - in much the same way as Australia still is part of the commonwealth.
