What do I do with FF? Apply my complete apathy and sell the rights or let the series die.

1) Remake FF6
2) Make Kingdom Hearts 3
3) Make TWEWY 2
4) Reflect on what made FF games good (Subjects - FF4-6, some parts of 7 and 10)
5) Use these ideas to make new game
6) Retire at peak of fame

In my honest opinion, anyone making comments like these should simply remove themselves from the discussion. Stroking your antifanboyism by saying things like "Kill the franchise!!!" does not help to cultivate ideas on how to better the series. And is, in fact, unbelievably rude.
I am not an anti-fanboy. Assuming I am an anti-fanboy by first impression is a little rude in itself, but I guess my smug post can leave that sort of impression so I apologize for the misunderstanding. The Final Fantasy series has produced some of my favorite games ever. That doesn't mean I don't think its time to call an end to a franchise that I believe is done. For example, I grew up loving James Bond movies, but these are different times where even old formulas are changed and the attempts at creating that same shine as before may not totally fail, they are still lackluster to what has been done in the past. I am not saying this out of nostalgia, I am saying this on a case by case basis of enjoyment. And the last few cases of Final Fantasy have left me not as satisfied as I have been in the past. I'm sorry we disagree and I am sorry you think I am attacking what might be one of your favorite franchises, but I truly believe its time to let the franchise end.

Remake X and XII international versions, make the next one have more gameplay and less cutscenes then MGS4, Kingdom Hearts 3, maybe a new Mana game if a good idea comes up, Remake VI and VII and never make another game containing things from VII again.

A conversation struck up between me and my mates recently about JRPGs and how Final Fantasy has gradually been getting...not "worse", but maybe "out-dated". It then dawned us. What do you actually do with a series like Final Fantasy? Square-Enix is obviously trying to expand into new areas with Just Cause 2, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and...err...Mindjack...but what about it's baby of sorts?

*A reboot seems pointless when the next big number in the series usually changes everything.
*Remakes are done on a regular basis, or left alone completely. (Final Fantasy VII for example)
*Straight sequels are often...dodgy. (X-2 and XIII-2 are very mixed opinions)
*A new direction has been done. A lot. There's way over 100 spin-offs like Tactics, Versus and Dissidia and THEIR sequels combined.
*Ending it would destroy Square-Enix. Not in sales, but in shares held by investors.

So to cut to the chase, you own Square-Enix now. What do you do next with FF?
Spend 6 months exploring the old games and what made them so successful, comparing them to the newer games and what made them so terrible and using the findings to make a much more enjoyable final fantasy.

I'd go back to these guys:

Seriously, take a look at the March Mayhem results, and tell me it wouldn't work.

First off do the time warp back to the older games. The new ones just aren't fun, although some like Final Fantasy X were ruined by the story not the game play.
The problem with Final Fantasy games isn't the large amount of cut scenes or the gameplay to me. It is the convoluted story, the characters I don't care about or flat out HATE, the lack of control, and the corridors.
For the most part I want something like Shin Megami Tensei, or Orge Tactics: Let us cling together. In short just a better quality of the story, maybe branching story and multiple endings as well.
When it comes to the spin-off games... I normally like them more, and making them their own lines might do some good. Also remaking the old final fantasy games people give more of a shit about. People love 7 but do they remake it, no. Just prequels and squeals.
They just keep cranking out the first six games over and over. While that isn't a BAD idea, but people who have bought one have no motivation to buy them again.

Remake FFV and FFVI on 3DS.

Then hire Yasumi Matsuno to direct the Final Fantasy Tactics sequel.

Then pump more budget into Dragon Quest.

Then get a good FF MMO going.

I want this. I want to see the Ivalice of my childhood again. Though, I wouldn't want it to be about Ramza. As much as I love Ramza, his story is over. I would like to see something that links together all of the ivalice alliance games.
