The city of Detroit is suspending police patrols and government services to 20 percent of the city that has been mostly abandoned. Check out those pictures in the article, looks badass.

Y'know...it seems like a bad idea to announce something like this. Wow, 25% pass rate?! That's really sad. They're just going to give up on those area and surrender them to gangs?! Is this for real or one of those news parody things?

Time to send our crappy closet vigilantes to Detroid. Just google "real life super heroes" for an idea of what I'm talking about.

while these pictures do paint a very fallout like atmosphere (that would be fun to explore) i dont think anyone in their right mind should WANT to live in detroit.

HOLY SHIT, REALLY? detroits like, around an hour from my house!!! i'm sure i'll be safe from any repercussions way out where i live, but just knowing that i can grab a legit, bullet-proof, robo cop costume and a desert eagle and just go bust some caps in some gangstas is AWESOME

Im thining SLA industries here..
Build a big wall between "uptown" and "downtown". Get a big TV crew, then start making shows about the horrible violence in downtown to keep people in "uptown" entertained, scared and thankfull for the protection of the wall.

Personnel costs for the police force are very high. If the city has no money, then they may not have a choice. Ever since the late 70's when the auto industry started taking hits Detroit has been struggling to get back on its feet. It didn't experience a great deal of growth from the most recent bubbles, so they're treading on thin ice. It sucks the big one, but they may not have another alternative.

I actually heard that for the Red Dawn remake they're going to use abandoned buildings in Detroit as sets.

Wait, doesn't your government like, fund them? Or is your tax structure completely different to Aus?
