Dragon Age for me. I've easily gotten the most enjoyment and play time out of this title, and it's one of the best games I've played in a long time.

Borderlands. I love that game so much.

Of course, I've yet to play a lot of the bigger name titles of the year, so far. But, at this point, it's definitely Borderlands.

Dragon Age and no other contenders. Well, maybe Borderlands came close, but the plot kinda chugged to a halt halfway through. But Dragon Age was well nigh perfect from my point of view. A few minor quibbles here and there, but overall awesome.

I have to give it to MW2. At the sake of sounding boring and conformist, it did cover everything, and I've always thought MW2 (like COD4 before it) were a bit more creative than usually given credit for. The spec ops is a great new addition, and one I hope more games start to copy. Playing through an intense and scripted two-player mission is awesome, and there's nothing more satisfying than saving your friend. You really get the sense that you've got each other's back.

Though I really also loved Arkham Asylum, too.

Disclaimers: have yet to play DA:O, Uncharted 2, and a few other great games of the year.

To many for me to say. Though me being a big RPG fan I have to say Dragon Age.
If I enjoy (but maybe am not in love with) RPGs, have never played a Bioware game, love the high fantasy/LOTR setting, and loved Oblivion, will I like DA:O? I tried but somehow could not get into Mass Effect.

I hated Mass Effect, but love the fuck out of Dragon Age. I'd definitely recommend it as a purchase. Get the PC version if you have a choice.

i understand what your saying, mass effect took a while to get into for me, but i was drawn in way more heavily into dragons age, the story and flow was just amazing, i got fuckin sucked into that game like a blackhole, i'd play and end up finally blinking and didn't realize 8 hours had passed and i was hungry as fuck

mass effect was hard to get into, but i think the 2nd one will smooth out alot more and be alot more in to detail, overall i dont think it was bioware's best

if you want a AMAZING RPG, check out star wars: knights of the old republic, can get that shit on steam i believe real cheap, its awesome, also made by bioware

bioware also has quite a few other if you enjoy either of those, just google it, its def. my favorite game company by far

Probably my favorite this year would have to be Arkham Asylum

Yes I am a HUGE Batman fan. MW2 is good but Batman wins all wars...without a single kill

Batman: Arkham Asylum was absolutely awesome, but... not that much replayability. On the other hand, I'm still playing Empire: Total War nine months after it came out, and am nowhere near tired of it. Also, I'm apparently the only person in the world whose copy didn't crash every five minutes before they patched it. So, my vote goes to Empire. Shouldn't this thread be a poll?

This makes me excited to play DA:O over the summer. I haven't played an RPG with such a highly touted story in a long time - and never in a WRPG. Good to know.

I'd vote for Batman: Arkham Asylum but as it's the only game amongst the A-list games (or any other 2009 games for that matter...I bought my 360 when Batman came out) I don't truly have an objective opinion.

I do have to ask, though, with most of the answers so far being for games that just came out or have come out only within the past couple of months what about any games from the first half of 2009? Were they so unmemorable that they're not worth voting for let alone even mentioning?

I enjoyed both Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 immensely, it's hard to decide on one.
