With the new year drawn upon us, I think now is good time to think back our lives in 2012 and to reflect on it.

So how did 2012 treated you? Where there any highlights from it or was the year rough on you?

I going to keep this simple, I'm just summing up my time in just good, bad and overall (and anything else you want to add)-

The good
After I messed up with my interview from the city (look under bad) and went to my job agency about it, the advisor was able to arrange a work experience in a retail store.
Seeing I had nothing better to do I went along with it and worked hard at my time there (especially my ordeal from the city).
I suppose to do it for three weeks however before my work exp ended, the manager was going to hire another person so I arrange with my advisor to stayed on longer to prove me worth to the manager. By the end of it the manager had offer me the position and over eight months later I am still working at the same store.

The bad
At the start of the new year my grand uncle told me that his company had upcoming new job positions and I agreed to give him my cv for his manager to looked at. To my suprise I heard back from it and had a interview coming up meaning I had to stayed in a city for a few days.
Sure it didn't sound bad at first but once I was there I had a dreadful time (it was freezing cold, the accomdation was bad in that I get little sleep and the internet connection was bad). Sure I was out of my comfort zone and into the deep end but my experience was made worse that I was pressure to do it all from my family.
Anyway I did my best in the interview and luckily I was able to move back home since I only get a reply a few days later and if so, I had to head back for medical checkup so staying there any longer was just wasting my time.
Needless to say I didn't get the offer which I was glad for (beside the other candidates in the interview were far more qualify than me so I was glad a couple of them got the offers).

Overall
Despite my bad start of the year but I will remember 2012 as the year that I finally got a job. Not only that but 2012 was the year that Guild Wars 2 got release (big fan of the series) and heading to this anime expo for the second time and enjoyed it despite my mate couldn't come. So overall the year 2012 was a good year for me.

So how did the year 2012 treated you?

I'm not sure what 2013 holds...

Fairly well I suppose.

Graduating from University was probably a highlight, but at the same time a low point - leaving the friends and places that have been a big part of life for three years.

2013 holds more education and work in the form af an MA, and the realisation that sometimes I need to sack up and be more proactive and less passive about certain aspects of my life.

2012 was very good for me.
All aspects of my life was pretty good. 2011 and 2010 were pretty tough so it was not very tough to surpass them.
the stakes are raised for 2013!!

The Good
- Getting back into bands at uni. In fact, writing music in general.
- Moving into my own house. It's a hell of a lot better than living in halls.
- Seeing Decapitated and Cancer Bats live.
- Having cash over the summer because of my summer temp work.

The Bad
- Still feel somewhat left out with my university peer group.
- My complete inability to get myself moving, which meant I missed decent job opportunities.
- Working at a miserable car parts warehouse over the summer, with awful bosses, awful hours and awful people.
- Realising I feel like I'm wasting my life being at uni. The first term of second year has been especially shite.

Overall
It's been a meh year for me. Some good stuff, some bad. Nothing special.

The good

Graduated from college.
Got a decent job.
Slowly getting into shape. Seriously, I'm expecting a sixpack by the end of summer.

The bad

My GF dumped me after 6 years together.
I'm still forced to live with my parents because all my spare income goes into their mortgage (I don't want them to lose their house) so I can't afford a place of my own.
My dad nearly went blind and had to undergo eye surgery.
My mom got cancer.
Then my dad got cancer, likely terminal.
Most of my friends sided with my GF after the breakup, leaving me with a gutted social circle.
The job I got has nothing to do with my university education, meaning it was a complete waste of time.
A ton of other small things.

Overall

It has been the worst year of my life. I realized that the past 6 years were a total waste, since I spent them with a girl who left me at the first sign of trouble, friends who abandoned me as soon as I became inconvenient and studying completely useless crap. Now both of my parents are seriously ill, one of them is unlikely to survive more than a year. I'm constantly broke and on the verge of losing the roof over my head despite working my ass off.

The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that my job is really nice (junior librarian at a university library) and a few friends that stuck by me. Other than that, life's shit.

The Good
-Spent several months working and travelling abroad, possibly greatest experience of my life
-Managed to GM a roleplay to completion and ended up with another fun one on my plate
-Found out more about myself and accepted myself a bit more than the end of 2011

The Bad
-Still not sure about what I want to do in a few months when my university course finishes
-Dropped from averaging a 1st to a 2.1 in my degree so far
-Still clueless about relationships
-My dad suffering from a mysterious heart disease since September which doctors have so far failed to identify

Overall

Overall a smashing year events wise but marked with uncertainty about what the next year entails when I leave university.

Had a pretty good year all round.

Paid off my house, got a new car and kids got another year older and closer to buggering off. Biggest plus was realising we had enough savings to retire a hell of a lot earlier than we had planned.

Step daughter moved in with her boyfriend last week so the house is a lot more peaceful without her music ... because it was shit ... and loud.

And to top it off I got to laugh at people that thought the world was going to end ... again. Sadly I didn't get to mock Harold Camping and his moronic followers this year which was a shame.

I also found a new outlet for my mockery .... the NRA of America because, well, they are about as intellectually challenged as you can get without being legally labelled as a Brussel Sprout.

So it's been a pretty damn good year.

Looking forward to 2013.

I haven't really had the best of years. For the first 6 months I was in and out work due to complications from my Crohns disease and side-effects of the medications prescribed to try and keep it under control. Then in September I was taken into hospital and underwent bowel surgery to remove a fistula and to stop my right kidney from dying.

However, sitting around home for the last 4 months has given me time to catch up on some games that I've missed out on playing over the years for whatever reason as well as giving me plenty of time to think about what I actually want to do with my life. So with that I started a degree course with the open university studying natural sciences, focusing on astronomy and astrophysics. I have also recently bought myself a telescope and can't wait for a clear night, though I might be waiting for some time for a clear night up in Cumbria.

So despite a crap 2012, i'm optimistic for what will come in 2013 and think it will be a good year, providing Carlisle United don't get relegated.

The good:
I ain't dead yet.
Continual progress towards being a somewhat functional person.
Giving less of a shit what people think of me.

The bad:
Falling behind with uni.
Mental problems worsening.
More and more detached from humanity.
Still a virgin, and I'm 22 in january.

Overall:
Up against it, but when haven't I been? Beginning to stop saying "sorry" so much, and saying "fuck you" more. Some may see that as a step back, I see it that I might finally have a shot at fighting back. All in all "still flying".

My life has always been good, and it has remained good over the duration of 2012. Hopefully, the overall goodness will continue to be the dominant mood over 2013.

Been a pretty mixed bag for me. Been very tough in some respects - not being able to find a job for about 8 months has been really, really depressing, and means we have massive money trouble.

On the other hand, I passed my degree with a 2:1 that I never expected to get, and got engaged. So.

Graduated from High School this year. Got this art award thingy, went to college, got to spend the holidays with my family, survived the end of the world, etc.
All in all, it was a good year.

Shaun's good stuff. (Not that kind.)

- Got into a collage course. (Diploma of Mass Communication.)
- Passed and earned my diploma. (With flying colors)
- I am more confident due to that course.
- I have more connections over the world thanks to the Escapist and the course.
- My writing has improved triple-fold. (Thanks to the Escapist and it's RP "Avatar Adventures". Also thanks to the course again.)
- Became 18... didn't become a drunk douche-aholic.
- Australia won the R18+ thing. :p
- Becoming more healthy. (Started the plan today.)

The Bad Stuff.

- Feels like my evil side is growing more.
- No Girl friend/True love/ Whatever. (I know I have to be patient)
- I'm complaining about girls/everyone these days. (Because it seems no one has a sense of morality anymore)
- Have no idea if I'm getting into my university course this year (It's 2013 here. :p) ... but it's a minor thing for now.
- No job... yet.

Overall.

This year was my first year out of school, and it was pretty awesome. I got to get experience in a few areas of journalism (Because I want to be a games journalist) and other areas relating to it. I got to experience many new games and I bought a game on Steam for the first time.

It also seems Australia is going well for now... well sure the politics is going down the toilet, but least we are gaining R18+ and better internet. (Soon)

Honestly the only things I want are to become more healthy (No six pack or crap, just an athletic-ish body), a girlfriend that is truly suited for me, to get into my university course and get a nice job. :D

Captcha: "Happy New Year!" You too captcha. Happy New Year to everyone! :p

- The pointless ME3 bitching, even to this day. Just stop it. It is over and done with. You won. You got your way. NOW DROP IT!
its the star wars preaquels of the gaming world..it aint gonna go away that easy

[quote/] - The pointless Activision/EA/Ubisoft/[insert name of large company here] bitching.
...yeah...pointless..(what?) it might be a dead hoarse, that I can accept but EA is still being....EA

[quote/] - The constant bitching about DRM, yet people still drive the developers to create more DRM by illegal downloading (You Hippocrates!)
stop calling it bitching...seriously..

anyway I think DRM is crap but I don;t pirate so I'm not sure what your implying there

OT: another bad thing about 2012 is over use of the term "bitching" and "buthurt"
