Mine is Watchmen. I never read the comics but when I saw this movie I was astounded that the guy who made 300 could make such a deep and interesting film. This movie has it all: great acting, great story, great soundtrack, and great action all blended into a stunningly beautiful art style that ties the whole movie together.

So, Escapists, what are you're favorite movies?
Watchmen? It was an adaptation. When pretty much the entire movie is already written, with art style already laid out, you would actually have to work pretty hard to screw it up. It never ceases to amaze me that Hollywood consistently DOES make that effort. This was simply a case of Hollywood NOT working hard to screw things up. They did a pretty much straight adaptation. No surprise it was good.

My favorite movie though....none. 99% of all Hollywood movies are total and utter crap. The closest at the moment is the animated movie "The Incredible Hulk Vs." you can get on Xboxlive. I loved Deadpool in that movie. The few movies that manage to be good occupy a sort of realm, with no individual movie standing out.

It's like a dimension of good. Everything on my list just occpies this space. With no one thing standing out. I suppose I could say that I loved Dragon Hunters, this wierd French CGI film, or that I loved Hot Fuzz, but in the end, all of these films seem significantly flawed to me. Nothing, from my perspective, is truly great. There is a just this realm of "good." which 1% of movies manages to occupy.

Hollywood (and most movie making in general.)is almost exclusively crap. It's almost nothing but philosophy I dissagree with, morals I don't agree with, cliche's I don't agree with, and bigotry/discrimination I don't agree with. (Seriously, stop badmouthing the French. If it wasn't for them there might not have BEEN an America. And why are so many intelligent, independent women sexist bigots with an inferiority complex? AND WHY DO THE HEROES FALL FOR THESE WOMEN DESPITE THEIR ABHORRENT PERSONALITIES!?)

I would have to say Pulp Fiction or Inglorious Basterds. I just thought both were tops!

Tough one. I'd have to say The original Trilogy of Star Wars of you can count those as one, or Empire Strikes back if you can't.

Same for Indiana Jones in second. I just loved The Last crusade.

Either "WALL-E" or "Up", both from Pixar. Strange thing to say for an FPS junkie, I know, but I do love them.

I can never decide which is my all time favorite.

The movie I love the most at the moment though is Coraline. The book is equally awesome.

BTW, Coraline would be a f*cking horror movie if it was made with real people, instead of the(awesome) animations they use now. Button eyes... eek.

Alien.

It works as a thriller, it works as a horror, it works as a look at class, it works as a fantasticly original film, the score works, the cinemtography is breath-taking and the acting (mostly Weaver, Holm and Hurt's performances) are fantastic.

It's just a brilliant film.

To Kill a Mockingbird. Why? It was the only time where once the movie was done, I turned to my parents (I was 13 at the time), and said, "I can't see anything wrong with it."
The film, at least to me, is perfect. Endlessly re-watchable, incredible acting, nice music, a great ending, and Gregory Peck. Perfection.
