Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
English humorist & science fiction novelist (1952 - 2001)

Why? Because so many people really just don't get how damn big space is.

"man when I was younger I shoved my ignorance in peoples faces, they beat me with sticks, by the time I was forty my blunt insturment had been honed to a fine cutting point for me. If you don't show your ignorence then no one will hit you and you will never learn"
-fahrenheit 451

From my all time favorite book.

Flippin Ninja's! Wow. Prevents me from having to type it though. Um, people think it is Voltaire, but it isn't. It is really an semi-imaginary quote stemming from Voltaire and Evelyn Beatrice Hall.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't that said in the South Park movie by Mr. Garrison?

Either this (which apparently wasn't Voltaire, I'm now informed...), or:
"He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither", which may or may not be Benjamin Franklin

Or, on a lighter note:
"We're better than you, and we know it!" courtesy of White Goodman. Actually, pretty much everything Ben Stiller's character says in that film. And then the entire script to Anchorman.

Yes, and he said 5 days, not 7.

For me, it has to be: "Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."

I have no idea. It might have been, but my friend texted me that quote earlier today and he said it was by his brother on the topic of women. He's a cool guy so I just assumed he made it up himself.

"And if any women or children get their legs torn off, or faces caved in, well, it's tough shit for them." -2LT. Bert Stiles, 505th, 339th (On Berlin Bombardier Mission, 1944)

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on war.
