It has to be a shooter (open world games such as GTA etc. count) doesn't matter if it's 1st or 3rd person.

It doesn't have to be 3D (it can also be side scroller/shooter mix).

Post why you like the game, and when you last played it.

For mine, I guess I'll have to say Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Why? Because looking back I had a buttload of fun with it, and because my mind is too blank to think of anything better.

And... POST!

F.E.A.R (the first one) still strikes me as the funniest FPS i played. The AI clones are FUN to fight. And the horror, music, are all well done.

..And yes i played pretty much everything else that came after it (COD4, BC2 ect) and none of them come even close to the fun i had with F.E.A.R

Hard to choose between Half-life or Mass-effect.
I go for half-life because it has more "shooter" aspects in it.

Im gonna go after Team Fortress 2 soon, but BLACK wins right now.
It basically captured 80's movies. Do you know how fun it is to use a 60 rnd AK-47 and go all out with it?

Battlefield: Bad Company.
Legendary game, epic multiplayer, hilarious and unique campaign taking the piss of these all-too-serious other modern shooters, and doing it brilliantly. Multiplayer warfare is truly inspired.
I would choose the sequel, but that is too good and has gone far beyond what the human mind can comprehend as 'awesome', and is therefore disqualified for automatically winning. If that makes sense.
I love Bad Company!

I cannot say only one game, but I am going to mention some of my favorite shooters:

Half Life series
FEAR
Far Cry
Crysis
American McGee's Alice
Silent Hill (?)

Honorable Mention: The Void. I consider it the best game ever made, and though it's on a first person perspective, it isn't really a shooter. It's a whole lot more than that!

Deus Ex... but I'm hoping the announced prequel will take it's place... I doubt it though...

Metroid Prime.

Its everything i could have ever wanted in a shooter.
Awesome Weapons, Great Story, incredible Music, Amazing Environments and Creatures, all wrapped up into one very Atmospheric game.

Quake III Arena. That was the most fun I ever had in a multiplayer shooter.

For single player I will need to choose Deus Ex as well.

Crysis

Yes she's a bit demanding but give her, her favorite brand of chocalate and she's the best.

Okay enough metaphors, i love the cross between science fiction and miltary shooter, both my top favorite genres, the cutscenes are incredibly immersive since you never go out of body so you feel like you are the character, the number of special abilities is awesome, physics and weapon details are amazing. Hmm what else can i say.

Goldeneye anyone? Also, Turok 2 seeds of evil. Come to think of it, the N64 had some amazing shooters.
I like these games because they are simple yet have amazing stories. Also, Turok 2 has some amazing weapons.

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. Mostly because I put more hours into those than any of the other shooters I have.
