I recently found out my adopted father, my uncle, is descended from Alexander Hamilton Stephens [http://www.civilwarhome.com/stephens.htm]. My adopted grandfather is Paul Alexander Stephens [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Representatives_from_Pennsylvania], a PA Representative. His is one of the only names in red (was thinking about making a page for him). I was wondering if any of you know of your ancestry?

Uhm, I doubt I have any interesting ancestors, might be, but not that I know of... Besides, I have a mix of German, Irish, Russian and Indian ancestors to ad to my primarily Norwegian family, so there might be something there...

I'm mostly Scottish, Canadian, German and French.
Don't know if many of em were too significant, but I do know that back during prohibition my great great uncle ran a Chicago speakeasy.

My father once told me that I descended from a family of bakers that made all the cakes to the royal family. I don't know if it's true, but it's interesting to think about.

I'm Scottish, Irish, German, & a little English thrown in there. I was once told that my family is related, somehow, to Scottish nobility, but i have no proof of that so i don't take it too seriously.

There's quite a few famous people in my family tree, or at least people that family legend has it we're descended from. The Sinclairs of Scotland are a big one -- If you've ever read or seen The DaVinci Code, you'll know them as the Scottish branch of the St. Clairs, the alleged direct descendants of Jesus Christ. On the other side of the family, we're supposedly descended from Robert E. Lee's brother, which means that I've got both Henry Lee and Martha Washington in my family tree. Score, on both counts.

My family hasn't moved out of the West Midlands of England for hundreds of years.
The only one that's even half interesting of all of them is the one that died by getting drunk and wondering in front of a train. I shouldn't laugh, it's one of my great grandfathers. But it's just so funny!

I think we also have a family crest on a shield somewhere, but that might have been my dad pulling my leg or something I made up.

My great grand farther is a famous violinist. Linky. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svend_Asmussen] Otherwise, pretty boring line of scandinavians...

For a second I thought PA stood for Palestinian Authority--then I wondered why a man named Paul Alexander Stephens was working for a thinly disguised terrorist dictator group.

Scottish, Irish, Welsh and Czech.

That's all I know. Oh and there was some vaguely famous musician/conductor a few generations back.

I can't find anything from my family tree.

I think it's because it's very wide instead of long.

I don't really know much about my family tree so I'm just going to assume that we were vikings.

Fuck yeah.

No idea about me, but my bf is descended from someone who signed the death warrant for Charles I, and something very, very far removed from the British throne, lol

My parents were the first ones in my family to leave their home villages and settle in a city. So, my family tree is quite easily traceable, since both my father and mother come from villages that have no more than a couple of hundred people in it. They're both "pure"(read in)-bred Norwegians. I was born in my mothers family house in her village. And her family had been living in that specific house for more than 100 years before I came along.

My grand-father only left his home village twice in his life. The first time was to go kill Nazis, and the second time was to rebuild what the Nazis destroyed.

My parents are quite ashamed of their... rural roots. They prefer to think of themselves as more cultivated than the rest of the family, I one the other hand like my roots.

half Scottish, quarter Ggerman, quarter Austrian with an Indian last name. My grandfather from my mothers side was the (west-)German embassador to India and later New Zeland, thats about all I can think of right now, but I might look further into my ancestry at some point.

I'm American, that's the only way I can explain it. My ancestors first came over on the Mayflower and my blood is mixed pretty well. The only part I do know is I'm 1/32 Indian.
