My family is comprised of unremarkable scots and natives.

My cat, however, has made the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs.

The shell currently occupied by the consciousness of Mountbatten is descended, paternally, from Jews fleeing Odessa, which at the time was part of Russia, now Ukraine. Also from Romanians.

Maternally, a mix of Irish and English. The Irish side all died due to alcohol-related complications. Yeah.

So yeah, an interesting ancestry. However, this shell has no idea if any ancestors were of international or national renown.

Edit: However, this shell does know somebody who claims to have been a descendant of Lord North, better recognised as the Prime Minister during the American War of Independence. So Americans will love his ancestry undoubtedly.

I dun got mahself a proper ancestor. It's been proved about as well as these things can, but it's this guy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dafydd_Gam

My mother is from Wales/England, so it's that side of the family. Otherwise it's Pictish. None of your "Scot" bullshit, my second name is from the original painted warrior bastards who fought off the Roman Empire so hard that they built a wall across the country just to stop us killing more of them.

Hells yeah. Oh, and my Great-Grandfather won the DSO and DSC which is impressive seeing as how one can only be earned in the Navy and the other the Army, and both are pretty "up there" in terms of military decorations.

When you read J.R.R. Tolkien's biography (or just Wikipedia it like I did) you find that I share the same surname with a lot of his family. As he was born and raised in Birmingham (as was I) and due a lot of research my grandfather did into our family tree, it leads me to highly suspect I'm somewhat related to J.R.R. Tolkien...
Awesome :)

I couldn't give you any specifics but i do know that on my fathers side in ye olden days my family were royal lancers, whose motto on the family crest is "Spears amongst our enemies." Personally i interpret amongst as 'stabbed into' :D

Ukrainian & Russian Eastern Orthodox on my dad's side of the family, but they somehow picked up Lutheranism when they came to America.

As for my mother's side, my grandma was born to Hungarian/Georgian Catholic farmers and my grandpa is Lebanese. My great-grandfather was a Maronite Priest who came to America back in the 30's but I'm not sure what my great-grandma did.

Dad's side is Scots/ Irish. Grandma's ancestor came over on 2nd ship after the Mayflower, a ship that is so important to history that my grandmother did not even know what it was called. My grandfather's ancestors were descendants of criminals that were living in Georgia when that was a penal colony.

Mom's side is Filipino/ Yaqui Indian. Grandpa's family lived on an island about 40 miles north of Manila for too many generations to count. His uncles killed Americans in the Spanish American war. Grandma's family has been converted to Catholicism a long time ago, since the Spanish first discovered them.

Mom's side is Catholic going back 500 years. Dad's side has been Protestant since there was such a thing as Protestantism. I end up being an atheist.

I have a family tree that goes back over more than 1000 years.
It'd take a while to go over all the interesting folks in it.

All I know is that my mom's family apparently fled to Turkey during the Crusades. Oh, and we got some Armenian, Israeli, Peruvian, and Costa Rican blood.

Well my grandad once told me that my dad's side of the family came to scotland from scandanavia with the vikings. Don't know if it's true though.

However if it is I win.
