Okay
-Why didn't handsome jack just shoot anything coming near pandora out of the sky if he wanted to control the planet?
-Why did he invite the vault hunters if he wanted the vault for himself?
-Why didn't he get rid of the players ability to respawn at New-U?
-Why couldn't Roland spawn at a new-U?
-Why couldn't HE respawn at a new-u?

And no, I'm not ignoring the New-U's, they are apart of the fucking world and the game, you don't make excuses for them. Even Bioshock one managed to make an excuse for why the Andrew didn't respawn at his vitachamber, it took two seconds. Borderlands doesn't even do that.

As for the art thing, they still haven't acknowledged how they stole the full on art style or several scenes for their movies.

And no, the Mako sucked too. Apparently you just don't play games with good vehicle control.

So because you can play with 4 players it excuses horrible design on quests? That's a bullshit excuse.

And no, characters being fleshed out isn't opinionated, they simply weren't. You can like your one dimensional characters but they either are or aren't good characters, that's black and white.

Ghoul N Ghost. Why must I suck at that game? Yes I know it was made to be hard but still I can never once get past the first level!

The Final Fantasy series. I hate JRPGs in general, but the mere mention of FF angers me. It's one of those unexplainable hates, and i don't like hating things for no serious reason, but there it is. I absolutely, mindlessly and without exception hate every and all FF games.

Assassin's Creed 3, not because its a bad game; in fact I don't KNOW if its a bad game, because that's the problem, I CANT PLAY THE BUGGER. Never before have I purchased, and installed a game on my PC just to have it plainly NOT WORK. Which makes it even more of a shame that I purchased the Freedom Edition, because I love the Assassin's Creed series...

For one, see this video As to why meme's aren't at all a good thing in games.

But dear god you, you just don't have taste.

Next you'll be telling me it's writing is better than Bioshocks or Spec Ops.

I mean, they "dare" to have meme's and badass in their game? How is that daring? That's fucking lazy as shit.

Also way to completely side step how they steal fucking art from other people.

And no, a good loot system should have shitty secondary tier loot but have awesome stuff you can FIND if you actually use your brain or skills. (See Dragon Age, Morrowind, Oblivion, Baldurs Gate, or ANY GOOD RPG)

I mean, dear god, fanboy harder for this game.
Take it outside you two!

OT:
Would Dark Souls count?
Admittedly I like the game but we spend enough time kicking each others asses down the corridor that we might as well be worst enemies.

My arch nemesis is more of a thing that tends to come up in games. And they are pretty much always in games i love, the story, the visuals, the gameplay... The only thing I can't wrap my head around is when the element of diving comes into play. Especially when it does so without giving you a breath-meter, so you can freak out in the pich-black, freezing cold water, trapped under ice with slaughterfish biting your toes and no means to defend yourself, while completely unaware when you will start to feel the cold fingers of drowning wrapping around your respiratory-tract.. (Thank you Skyrim...)

This fear of water mixed with the most useless phobia ever (That of plants) is also the reason I am stuck in Bioshock... Damn underwater greenhouse-garden-thing! T-T

(EDIT: This would also then make Bioshock my arch nemesis, but one of those you just love but can't seem to live with... Like parents who still love each other but just can't be with each other lest they kill the spouse, the children, the dog and ultimately themselves.... *Sigh* I guess I will try again... Some day...)

I am not "Fanboy" the game. It definitivly has got flaws, such as balancing issues, bugs and whatnot, its just than you didnt mentioned any of those actual issues.

Its not AWESOME writing, but then again I dont really care that much for the story. The whole stealing art I simply dont know, I guess thats bad (if it is even true, it seems like you are just trying to randombly bash in the game no offence), but you are right I really dont care that much for that either.

Borderlands´s strong points comes from the hybrid FPS/RPG gameplay, and the guns, and it does that WELL. The rest is secondary. For the heavy story driveng games that I have not any interest on (at least if said games have boring/bad gameplay), go with your Dragon Ages, Mass effects, Walking Deads and Spec Ops, I am fine with that, but dont ask me to like something I simply DONT enjoy. You dont like Borderlands, fine by me, I just simply wanted your opinions and tried to compare them with mine to see the differences. The end.

By the way, I dont think the meme use are something that GOOD, but i dont think it is bad either. Its better than anything BIOWARE did, for sure, at least IN MY OPINION, since memes at least TRY to be FUNNY or INTERESTING, stuff that Dragon Age and all other games I just mentioned just dont have IN MY OPINION (along with boring gameplay).

Also, the only other RPG that I played somewhat recently that I loved was Skyrim (But I do admit this game does have A LOT of flaws), since you have Morrowind and Obvlivion in your list. But not Skyrim for some reason...

Anyways It does kinda feel like this is begin a little OT right now, so I dont know if we should end here.

He wanted you to expose sanctuary so he could destroy it/ didnt expoect you to be as skilled as you were
at first its because handsome jack probably thought it was funny to see you dfunding him while trying to kill him, then he needed you to get into sanctuary, and then he wanted personal revenge against you for what you did. there explained that plot hole. Maybe he unhooked the raiders at sanctuary so when he did kill them they didnt come back.
maybe his ego was too big to allow himself to be hooked up to the new u.

I can think of an altogether better and bigger plot hole. why didnt your character attempt to kill him when he shows up face to face the first time. thats a much bigger plot hole then the new u stuff which can be chalked up to Jacks Ego/ overconfidence.

one dimensional...i dunno i think with the fleshed out backstories gave them more than one dimension as a character.

I played GTA 3, vice city, san andreas, need for speed underground, most wanted, carbon, hot pursuit, and so on. those have good driving controls. Borderlands driving controls while not great...are NOT terrible....the physics are sure, but the actual controls are not. and no. the Mako was nto terrible. just because you thought it was does not make it so. i had fun driving that thing as i did driving the cars in borderlands. THAT IS AN OPINION. you cant keep throwing that as objective fact when its not terrible. difficult but not terrible. terrible is when the fucking cars barely fucking turn when you try to turn. see need for speed pro streed, shift, gta 4, and so on.

besides even if i gave all that as objective fact, thats only 3 of the six complaints you levied at me (but im only granting you 1 and thats the plot holes since they werent technically explained so you have me there), that does not make an objectively bad game. it makes a subjectively bad game. its moot anyways, you wont listen to reason that you are listing subjective opinions as objective fact. Dont respond I dont want to hear it. You are in your right to hate the game. by all means hate on it.

With that i bid you farewell.

Seriously. WHAT'S WITH ALL THE HATE ON FINAL FANTASY XIII ??

So could someone explain this since it's getting ridiculous.

Anyway back on topic. The game that I hated so much that I couldn't even play more than 2 hours was WET. That fucking game. Oh that fucking game. Nothing works. Everything is broken! From fake Max Payne bullet time to the ledges you can or can't grab onto to boring story and stupid characters with no motivations and little to no plot, this game is pure shite.

Bioshock probably disappointed me more than any other game I've played. Going into it I admit I kind of expected this to some extant since everyone had told me it was the greatest game in the history of existence and that all other games paled in comparison to its magnificence to the point that it must have been hand crafted by god and clearly nothing could live up to that kind of hype, but I expected to at least get some kind of enjoyment out of it. Playing it I found the only thing it had done right was atmosphere, which seemed to have left little time for everything else, which was either dull or broken. I can't recall any point during my time with it that I really enjoyed it, always either frustrated or bored. Worst $5 I ever spent (steam sale if your curious).

I'm a reasonable man. A sane man. A man that believes that blind hatred for a game, simply due to bad gameplay is silly. All you have to do is not play it, right?

But there is one game, one "game", that I loath. Not because of the gameplay (although I'm not a fan of it), but because it's mere existence puts a black spot on a game I love. What game is that?

http://www.romstation.fr/games/ps2/cover/30061.jpg

I hate you. I hate you unreasonably. I've made many a post about WHY I hate you. But I'll sum up the main reason like this: The very fact that you exist RUINS one of my favorite things about Final Fantasy X.

I love Final Fantasy X's ending. It's bittersweet, heartfelt, and somewhat ambiguous. It's a very fitting ending for the game. The very fact that it HAS a sequel, let alone one like THIS, ruins all that.

I could write paragraphs about what's wrong with the game, but that's really my main one for me. It's existence makes one of my favorite RPGs ever objectively worse.

Saints Row the Third, why did you have to remove so much from Saints Row 2 and make the game so over the top and insane?

GTA. What is the point in them? I can't bring myself to have any fun in them, especially when I should always be a giant douchebag to all the npcs. However, as a passionless (not crazy, got a paper that says so!) person, I am unable to colourfully express how these kind of games irritate me slightly more.

It might have been great years ago, but I just couldn't see what was so damn awesome about the game overall.

Than don't start it?

You don't get into a discussion, make your points, and then say "there, I win, fuck off" because that's a sign of immaturity as well as the fact that you either know your losing or just don't know what your saying.

One dimensional doesn't equal "not having a backstory"

Examples
Master Chief has a backstory, but in game he's still freaking cardboard (until halo 4)

Roland is basically just your general hero, even with a backstory.

These are one dimensional

Vernon Roche from the Witcher 2 is an nationalistic elf-hater. At the same time he is a loyal companion and a good leader.

Kenny from the Walking Dead game is a loyal friend and a brave man; but he's also bullheaded and possibly racist.

These are fleshed out characters.

And things cease to be opinion when the general consensus agrees on them.

The mako being as weighty as a god damn bouncy ball and the vehicles in borderlands being stiff is BAD DRIVING. Whether you like something or not doesn't make it good.

Also, plot holes aren't supposed to be explained by the fans, they are supposed to be explained in the game. If they aren't, they are plot holes.

Example

In Mass Effect 2 when the collectors show up every fan asks "Well, why didn't the collectors help sovereign in ME1?" that's a valid point about a plot hole. You can try to make justifications for it but it doesn't get rid of the fucking hole.

aguspal said:
No, the art stealing thing is NOT OKAY; even if it's your favorite game. If someone BLATANTLY steals something it's bad, I don't care what game is doing it. And by buying the game you are allowing people to profit by stealing and abusing someone else's creativity.

Again, your missing the point. It's not interesting to repeat something over and over and over and over. By the time a meme gets into a game it's been overdone to death.

If Borderlands actually had respect for itself it'd think of NEW jokes, not inserting old ones and saying "lol we're original and random". That is the worst kind of humor.

And people go with the games you mentioned because they have good plot, or good characters, or ACTUAL JOKES. These are writers that actually did more than copy paste something off the internet and call it good work.

Good stories are ones with characters with arcs, with plots that have interesting themes or points, or memorable moments that actually have an impact.

Basically your playing the Transformers of games, that puts it in the same category as COD or Medal of Honor.

-Handsome Jack hired the Vault Hunters so they would fight Wilhelm, take his power core, and plug it into sanctuary's shields, so Angel could hijack the shield, turn it off, and then Jack could blast the city apart. It was the only way he could get the city in a state that he could destroy it.

-As for why he didn't turn off YOUR ability to respawn, its because he is super fucking egotistical. He has no need to prevent you from respawning, he's Handsome Jack, he CANT lose, because hes that good. He didn't fear you at all, and probably found it funny that you kept dieing in some vain attempt to stop the unstoppable Handsome Jack.

-As for Roland, it is entirely possible that when Jack took over hyperion he had the New-U's old databanks erased. Roland and the other original Vault hunters wouldn't be in the new system.

-Handsome Jack is SUPER egotistical, he wouldn't put himself into the New-U system because he believed he couldn't die, and even if he did die, he wouldn't want a clone to finish his job, because a clone is a lesser thing then him.

Are you referring to the part where Atlas reveals himself as Fontaine and betrays you? Even that was under-whelmeing as I saw it coming miles away. I knew Atlas would betray me the second he opened his mouth (just call me genre savvy), and I knew he was Fontaine when Wilkins wouldn't shut up about how he was still alive and Atlas kept droning on about how Wilkins is just paranoid and Fontaine is dead, really.

so thats 2 out of 6 for you.. still does not make it an objectively bad game. we can go round and round on this but how about we just agree to disagree? your not gonna be swayed form it being an objectively bad game and im not gonna be swayed that it is. truce then?
